This ad, which uses an image that’s been passed around online for a few years, seems to suggest that while you are gone from home, a burglar might sneak into your house through the open garage door and stick your cat up at gunpoint.

No need. That kitty clearly has the situation under control
You got it all wrong. The guy with the gun is the home-owner. The cat was burgling the place!
Cat burglars are very dangerous. And scary.
The cat is actually the device that protects your home!
Those Cat burglars….
Look into that kitten’s shifty, beady eyes…this was clearly an inside job.
Great ad. More ads should have kittehs in them.
While that is almost alway true, that damn Quizno’s ad it horrid even with the kittens. I can’t even watch it, despite the cuteness of the kittehs.
“Let’s tell people that if they don’t close the garage, their cat will get shot. We’ll sell millions. Millions!”
Sure you guys make fun of this ad but has any of you ever had your cat mugged at gunpoint in his own home??
You shouldn’t make fun of things like this cuz you wouldn’t be laughing if it ever happened to you.
BUT WHAT OF THE CHILDRENS??????
WHAT OF THE KITTENS??
My small cat would give me up to the Nazis if Hitler was holding a bag of kitty treats.
For a cat, that’s pretty loyal!!! I’m pretty sure mine would do it simply out of spite.
My cat would then give up Hitler to Nazi hunters for additional treats. They’re like that.
… and when they came for me, I didn’t have any kitty treats, so I was screwed.
This is why my kitty never carries more than $20 cash at all times.
And do you have to contribute to the kitty?
If you don’t buy our Auto Garage Closer….Someone will point a gun at your pussy!
Love the promo code. PopSci
Sounds like he term “popular psychology”
The term is often used in a dismissive fashion to describe psychological concepts that appear oversimplified, out of date, unproven, misunderstood or misinterpreted; however, the term may also be used to describe professionally-produced psychological knowledge, regarded by most experts as valid and effective, that is intended for use by the general public.
I bet that promo code was made like that because the ad was in the Popular Science Magazine
I figured that out too, but
This concept appears oversimplified, out of date, unproven,
The promo code “PopSci09″ likely indicates that the advertisement appeared in Popular Science Magazine
Not my cat. He invokes the Catsle Doctrine…but mostly all he can do is trip you on the stairs.
Reminds me of a true story one day when I returned from work to find my husband already home:
Husband: Did you forget something today?
Me: Uh, no, I don’t think so.
Husband: The garage door was open when I got home!
Me: Really?! I could have sworn I closed it!
Husband: Well you didn’t!
Me: I’m sorry… WAIT A MINUTE! YOU LEFT AFTER ME.
He’ll never live it down
This happens all the time in my neighborhood. Why? Because the little critters are loaded. The expression ‘cash in the kitty’ was coined for a reason you know.
I’m choosing to believe that the person holding the gun is Jack Bauer and he’s telling the cat to “Close the garage door, NOW! There is no time!”
Was watching TV, a commercial came on for remote fire alarm monitoring, and the sales pitch was (paraphrasing) “save your pets from immolation if you’re not home”. Wife was watching with me, and I knew within 10 seconds we’d be signing up for this service. One of the most effective slam-dunk commercial effects I’ve ever experienced. One look in her eyes, and I knew better than to argue.
Won’t someone please think of the kittens!?
That’s actually pretty cool how it works.
I was going to build something myself out of a magnetic security switch and an AC outlet timer that would check periodically to see if the door was open or not and send a switch closure to the garage door opener if the magnetic switch was closed, but this sort of does the same thing. And wirelessly even.
I Can Has Kevlar?
