eh. it happens. Sucks to be their incident management team!
Useful tool:
http://downforeveryoneorjustme.com/
That won’t work as it will only check if a website is down. Since they have the error message up and running, the downforeveryoneorjustme will say it’s up
It’s working fine for me.
I can log in to my accounts.
This happens to websites all the time… large websites are no exception. Thanks for the post and all, but people would have found out when they tried to access the site anyways… If there was a virus on there that you would download when you accessed it, that would be a story.
I was able to log in just now.
The enemy’s website is DOWN!
+1
OMG my Centurion Card isn’t working!
What wonderful timing! I just finished setting their Credit Card offer to me Ablaze!
Good to know I’m not missing any excellent technical support.
Seriously? One time down and you’re attacking their level of service?
It’s one thing if the site is down all the time, but in all my time with AA the site has been pretty good.
Puhleeze. That’s their *normal* message if you enter your ID or password incorrectly. Try it.
Works for me.
Ooops, my faultt. I paiid $135.322 on a $135.32 billl. Darned palsyy.
The site has been doing this to me for a couple weeks now. I refresh the browser and the page loads right up.
Doesn’t it strike as strange for anyone that within one week Chase and AmEx go down?
Chase is keeping hush-hush (as far as I know) about the reason for they 24+ hour outage. Now this.
Maybe a large scale hacking operation?
Chase sent everyone an email today apologizing for the outage and said they will pay for any late fees.
Yeah, I got one too.
It didn’t say why they were down, though.

Chase has determined an employee of American Express was responsible for their outage. They have decided to get their revenge…
I called on this a few days ago…after being transferred around a bit, we were able to figure out that I had illegal characters in my password. They recently changed their password policy and now $! and several other characters are invalid. It would have been more helpful to either offer a better explanation or force a password change upon login. Hope this helps.
Wow. I have to say, I have seen some stupid and irrelevant article here lately, but this one sure takes the cake.
Really?
amex is down almost every single time i use it. i have to login about 4x on average to get on- and this has been going on for months.
