A woman in Colorado had her eyes burned out by images of “nude women and male genitals” on her cellphone’s new(ish) memory card, reports KRDO.com. She says the Sprint employees who worked on her phone must have known it was there, since they’re the ones who swapped in the new card. She’s pretty upset: “If [young family members] had seen those pictures, it could have ruined them for life.”
She says Sprint gave her a $100 credit and offered to pay for a visit to a psychologist. Sprint told the news station that it’s still investigating and won’t comment on the incident.
This might be a good time to mention that you should always erase everything from your phone and reformat the available memory, both before you get rid of it and when you buy a used one. It’s an easy enough trick and it keeps you in control of what you see or read, and of what you share with strangers.
“Calhan Woman Finds Porn on Repaired Phone” [KRDO.com]

“If [young family members] had seen those pictures, it could have ruined them for life.”
… must have been good pictures.
This type of mindset is so scary to me. How in the wise world of sport is seeing naked pictures of a man or woman going to ruin anyone’s life. I really want someone to qualify such a statement in a logical way.
Exactly. Isn’t that how a lot of us got our first dose of sex ed? I remember spending the weekend at my Aunt’s house when I was younger (maybe 7 or 8) and I found my Uncle’s porno magazines under the bed in the guestroom. I thought some of the pictures were hilarious. It didn’t ruin me for life, and in fact, I’m just fine. A little perverted maybe, but fine.
agree with womynist- this is how it happens and we got over it. Digital0verdose, gonna steal your wise world of sport.
“A little perverted maybe, but fine.”
Hence your avatar that looks a little like a cross between a rose and…um…lady parts. ;-D
My grandfather had a stack of playboys in the bathroom. They never put them away even when they had company. I survived! I’m also a female who isn’t afraid of porn, there’s probably a connection…
Sounds either profoundly naive or pre-litigious to me. For Sprint’s sake, I hope it’s the former. For her sake, I hope it’s the latter.
There is no logic to it. Just another example of how profoundly stupid we can be…to actually convince ourselves of such things.
To be fair there is a difference between nudity and pornography. A naked picture of a woman is one thing. A picture of two naked people in a sex act takes it to a different level.
…why?
‘Back Door Sluts 9′ makes ‘Crotch Capers 3′ look like Naughty Nurses 2′!
+1 “Five midgets, spanking a man covered with 1000-isle dressing. Is that making love?”
That’s how sauce for Big Macs are made.
They offered a visit to a psychologist, must have been really good pictures.
This was what caught my attention as well.
Oh my God, a naked body. I’ll has to send the kids to therapy for years!
Well, since they were male and female, there is a good chance said child had seen at least one of those parts before. Also, how good was the resolution on the phone?
I do not know a single person who didn’t accidentally see some sort of porn at a fairly young age. Everyone has stories about that sort of thing, including me. I wasn’t a bit traumatized. I thought it was gross, but I wasn’t hurt by it.
Must be those Victorian cell-phone-using kids I’ve heard so much about.
Goatse? Lemonparty? Tubgirl? One wonders.
Terrible mistake. Highly irresponsible.
But, “If [young family members] had seen those pictures, it could have ruined them for life.” Seriously?
Lawsuit mentality. She’ll sue, or work out a settlement with Sprint before even GOING to court (to prevent bad PR in the media, doncha know).
She’s trolling for money from Sprint, obviously. That’s what American society is all about, after all.
It is not a bug, it is a feature.
“If [young family members] had seen those pictures, it could have ruined them for life.”
Really? I don’t consider myself ruined for life when I accidentally saw 30 seconds of an adult hardcore video when I was 8. Hell, i didn’t even know what exactly I was seeing.
Human children have this very peculiar psyche where if they’re a certain age, seeing a boob is irreparably damaging.
As opposed to the first year or so of their lives, when seeing a bare breast was considered advantageous.
If it’s a public breastfeeder it’s at least the first 3-4 years.
When I was 4, my family went on vacation to visit our extended family in Wisconsin & I found some pictures of my uncle’s bachelor party with a stripper. I had no idea what was going on in them. My mom found me staring googly-eyed at them, snatched them away, and told me to stay out of other people’s shit or she’d spank my butt.
I shrugged my shoulders & went back to my toys. I never needed therapy either, BTW.
When I was 3, I saw my own genitals and now I’m addicted to crack.
True story!
Sad the person with an avatar of an anteater near a lego man’s parts….LOL
I wish my phone came with the option of free porn.
A naked-filled memory card AND $100? I would have been thoroughly amused.
Yes it’s icky, unprofessional, and a huge mistake on Sprint’s part. That said, I believe that their “make good” offer is more than fair. People need to stop freaking the eff out over nudity and making a massive deal over what “could have” happened. It didn’t. Relax.
The crumbling of society comes one naked body part at a time.
“…for life.” Yes, they will expect all phones to include this feature.
Dude… if you honesly need PSYCHOLOGICAL CARE after seeing a few nudie pics, please do the human race a favor & kill yourself. You are a weak link in the evolutionary chain.
I could at least hope that there isn’t too much chance of reproduction, but somehow even the most prudish still reproduce.
I wasn’t aware that seeing the natural human form could ruin a person for life. If this woman needs psychological counseling for seeing a penis I think she has some deeper issues to work out.
I’m having my eyes burned out by an image of a nude cat…
Dude, get over the cat thing.
Cats suck. Dogs Rules!
Pics or it didn’t happen.
Uhm…how about not overreacting and stuff? And seriously, the CSR is supposed to know they’re there? They probably don’t even check stuff half the time if it is returned. I’d say if a young person saw a Michael Bay film and tried to understand it, that’ll ruin them for life. Pictures of what God gave everybody…not so much…might just invoke uncomfortable questions more than likely.
“might just invoke uncomfortable questions more than likely.”
This x1000. It has nothing to do with the children seeing naughty bits and whatnot. It is the fact that the parents don’t know how to parent and don’t want to go through the uncomfortable act of explaining to children what a penis and vagina are for. It is easier to just tell them “abstinence until marriage” and be done with it.
The best advice I have ever heard from parents about raising healthy kids: never overreact. If the kid falls down, just watch. 99% of the time, they hop up just fine and move on. They only scream at every bump once a helicopter parent has taught them they should be upset.
Same goes for just about everything else- they see a naked woman, just say it’s a naked woman or say nothing. They won’t grow up scarred, but the opposite- they won’t have insane sexual hang-ups where they were terrified by anything that isn’t missionary position, under covers, with the lights out.
My first experience with the adult female form was from taking showers with my mother when I was 5 or 6. My first experience with the adult male form was when we were remodeling the bathroom and were sans both door and shower curtain and I got a view of my father. This is how it usually goes- we see our parents, they shrug, we all move on and in time recognize how normal the human body really is.
Ruined for life? lol. Have you instilled such phobias in your kids that seeing natural parts of the human body will send them into some kind of paranoia?
I have a feeling christianity is involved in this somehow…

Really? A trip to the psychologist’s office because you saw some nudity? On second thought, if you need to see a psychologist because of some nudity, then you pretty much need to see one anyway because there is something fundamentally wrong with you.
Hitler saw part of a woman’s areola when he was a young lad…..just sayin.
I’m liking the picture – very punny. Kitty porn
So much win, on so many levels, hehe…
Well, this is Colorado Springs we’re talking about. Bigotry is considered a “Family Value” for much of the population there, it’s unsurprising that naked human bodies would ruin their lives. They probably view it as sinful to even look at their own naked bodies, much less those of anyone else. The Rev. Cotton Mather would be pleased with them!
Wait wait wait…. was it “a nude woman AND male genitals” or “a nude woman WITH male genitals?”
Cuz, ya know, there’s a difference.
Hey why doesn’t my phone come with nudie pics? 100.00 and naked pics, sounds like a great deal to me!
It’s a good thing that they are offering to pay to send her to a shrink. She obviously has serious issues about the human body.
Sad we live in a world where seeing a naked body might need a visit to a psychologist.
We don’t. This woman does. It’s called the inside of her head.
Might have been 2 girls 1 cup
“If [young family members] had seen those pictures, it could have ruined them for life.”
Yeah.. get over it. I’m kinda tired of the whole “omg, a nakkid person!!” Do they not have mirrors? Do they turn off the lights when the change clothes?
A nude person is nothing new, millions of other people out there have something that looks just like what you have. You’re nothing special.
But… were they hot?
All I can say is thank god it wasnt pictures of women breast feeding in public.
Imagine the damage that could have been done to the family then!
Wow. Ruined for life? Seriously? I’m afraid I could not have offered the credit or the shrink visit without either laughing or telling her how gd stupid her statement was.
so kids spaz out when it’s bath time and see themselves naked?
we live in society where nudity is being seen as harmful, but dismembering of people with laser swords is cool.
Not that I think Star Wars’ violence is bad, but just to add in the contrast that natural body parts is seen as dangerous but violence and destruction of said body parts is perfectly ok.
But if you need a psychologist for seeing boobs and a penis, then perhaps you really do need a psychologist, because something seems wrong.
Ruin me for life sprint!!
I love that mind set. “Oh noes my baby done seen nekkid peoples, s/he is rooned fer life”
so not mentioned was did they specify a charge for a new card the first time around? If not, it’s hard to see actual wrong here, just mild ickiness.
I work for Sprint. I know I know..
Anyway, they dont send us new memory cards to replace bad ones & they go bad all the time. Its considered an accessory and is not covered by any of Sprints warrenties or service plans.
The CSR was probably trying to be helpful & replace the card with one he/she acquired thru the days. My guess is they simply forgot to format the card before putting it in the phone.
No big deal, except when you make it a big deal.. Honest mistake- they were probably busy.
Life goes on.
I don’t see how you could fail to even format the memory card. You need to test to make sure it works after all…
So if one of her kids saw a boob they would need years of counciling? Give me a break why are people so repressed about seeing other people naked?
Seeing nudity even for a SPLIT SECOND causes irreparable damage to a child’s delicate flowering psyche. You see, scientists have found a switch inside every child’s brain that, if tripped by the sight of a boob(or god forbid- GENITALIA!), causes the child to become an irreparable degenerate. All chances of a normal youth and adulthood are ruined. Even if they are too young to have any idea what they’re looking at, seeing human nudity will utterly ruin a child for life and cause them to smoke, drink, masturbate, do Goofenthal, rape gratuitously anything that moves, and eat puppies.
WON’T SOMEBODY PLEASE THINK OF THE CHILDREN!!!
ruined for life by looking at a naked human? PUHLEEEZEEE
Please. No one’s gonna be ruined for life. If I found crap on my phone that I didn’t put on there, I’d be pissed off, not traumatized. Whoever was monkeying with my phone would be dealing with the trauma!
“If [young family members] had seen those pictures, it could have ruined them for life.”
There is a house in New Orleans they call the Rising Sun.
And it’s been the ruin of many a poor boy – and God I know I’m one . . .
Is this where someone exclaims, “WON’T SOMEBODY THINK OF THE CHILDREN!1!”
and why you are letting them use your mobile as a toy?
This is what I wanna scream at people everytime I read one of these “my phoen came wif porn! my kids cud hav seens it!” stories. Why the bloody @#$% would you let your kids play with your phone anyway?! I have actually worked for Sprint before & I can vouch that a good chunk of phones repairs/replacements are due to some stupid cunt letting her brat play with it. My mom does this too- my sister had broken her phone so many times, but of course according to my mom the *phone* is a poorly made POS. Aaaargh, so irritating.
I don’t have any kids, but if I did they sure as hell wouldn’t be allowed to so much as touch my phone much less play with it long enough to find my porn.
Yes. My sister and b-i-l both have Droids and apparently let the nephews play with abandon. When Oday and Qusay ask if they can play with mine, they get a curt ‘no’. Because the possibility of them finding pics ‘could ruin them for life’.
The deciding factor of my new cell phone was in fact a memory card full of male genitals i think Tmobile calls it the ” Brokeback Superpack”
“Easter Eggs”…Awesome
I saw naked sex pix as a child … all it did was gross me out. I got over it.
Really? For life? Does this not say something about your parenting skills?
“If [young family members] had seen those pictures, it could have ruined them for life.”
Oh, Jesus Christ. Shut up.
I’m “ok” with her being upset about the images, but the whole “ruined for life” part is a little over the top.
If the OP feels that she “had her eyes burned out” then she likely does need some kind of therapy.
What is she? A never-nude? There are DOZENS of them. DOZENS!
so what happens when she finds out about all the filth her new phone can access over the internet?
On the one hand: I agree with the core principle of this woman’s complaint – Sprint should have wiped the memory card clean, then CHECKED to make sure it was truly empty. Failure to do so is negligent on their part.
On the other hand: “If [young family members] had seen those pictures, it could have ruined them for life.”
Oh, bullshit. Male genitals? Half of all people under 18 have male genitals. Boobies and female genitals? The other half of all people under 18 have those. And each half, post-puberty, spends a large amount of time thinking about the parts they don’t have, themselves.
Exposure to simple nudity isn’t going to ruin anyone … not for life, and not even for ten minutes. Not for a 5 year old, 10 year old, 15 year old, or 50 year old.
so what happens when she finds out about all the filth her new phone can access over the internet?
DIfferent phones use different formats for using the cards. Phone “A” might create a folder called MEDIA, Phone “B” might create a folder called DCIM etc.. Its very possible that the media card came out of a different type of phone & the pictures did not display in the media gallery of the customers phone initially because the pics were residing in a different folder.
The OP may have dug through the card a little bit to discover these pics. Its highly unlikely the card came from a phone with the same exact format as the customers.
Why would a Sprint employee knowingly send out a card w/ nekkid pictures to a customer?? unless she was very hot & the pictures were of him, which works sometimes…
apparently the author was traumatized by seeing her brother or dad nude as a kid and has never recovered enough to realize that seeing a nude body is natural and healthy. These other things are just artificial restrictions that society imposes upon us to make us feel ashamed or disgusted with sexuality, with the hope that it prevents premature exploration and pregnancies.
“What has been seen cannot be unseen.” –Kitteh
I am suing sprint. If she gets nude pictures on her phones I want them on mine too. I hate making my own at home
