If you’re in the market for high school or college study guides and you have access to an iDevice from Apple, Kaplan is giving away 90 different titles between now and August 30th through the Apple iBookstore. Sadly, you can’t access the iBookstore on iTunes, so you’ll have to get to it through an iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch.

I may need to see what’s available.
Those USMLE books alone are worth a few bucks for the med student wife. I guess I’ll have to download me some books for her…
They also use shady tactics to get those questions…basically paying med students for the questions…
“They also use shady tactics to get those questions…basically paying med students for the questions…”
How is that shady? That’s how most certification prep books with sample questions are written.
i got some GRE verbal and math workbooks and practice questions. Not bad since in store this are like $10-15.
Why ARE college books so expensive…. never knew the reason for that in the first place….
Nice of them to exclude a huge portion of the market…particularly the portion that can’t pay 50% more for products just to have the iCrap name and would benefit the most from free materials.

Christ – did EVERYONE here miss the article about Kaplan ripping students off?
Do some Searching online! Dang! This is nothing but an OBVIOUS grab for positive PR after a shiz-nit storm.
Kaplan Test Prep and Kaplan University are separate subdivisions. I doubt the marketing of one has anything to do with the other.
“Private Vocational College—Kaplan operates vocational training programs that over enroll students using Federal loans that leave low-income student indebted and unemployed.
A whistleblower source has come forward to expose how CHI/Kaplan, in Broomsall, Pennsylvania over-enrolled students by the hundreds and then abandoned them before internship placement.”
Dailycensored
Kaplan University and Kaplan Test Prep are completely different business catering to a completely different set of students.
Kaplan University is owned by The Washington Post, which derives 58% of its entire revenue stream from Kaplan and its various subsidiaries and is well aware of the issues.
Site seems to be overwhelmed with traffic right now. My Touch just keeps flashing the Kaplan Store page without allowing me to click on anything. Tell Mr. Scott to get more power to the servers.
Go to kaplanpublishing.com/itunes from mobile safari. The address takes you directly to the ibooks storefront for Kaplan.
Considering that there are several useful nursing, medical and general books; this is a good deal (free).
I’m having the same issues.
So, I don’t know as much about the iBookstore – can titles be downloaded, deleted and redownloaded- or is it like iTunes – once you have it, you better keep it.
If you have already purchased a book on the iBookstore, you can redownload for free at anytime.
The headline is a LIE, I’m not giving away anything…
I lived off of Kaplan PMBR’s review materials first year of law school. I’d suggest any law student download them to at least have the option of going over them. (And to those who dislike Kaplan due to its related company’s shenanigans – take the free stuff, and then go with BarBri. And for those who dislike BarBri because of their prior history of non-compete agreements with Kaplan – well, you’re kind of hosed.)
I just went to the iBookstore to check it out. Most of the free books are pretty useless. There was only 1 book I downloaded that would help me pass my NCLEX and it is technically meant for the RN, not the PN.
Wow, I just downloaded a study guide for almost every bar class. Not sure how useful it will be, but it’s very cool nonetheless.
