Won't Pay Up Rent? I'll Spraypaint "Deadbeat" On Your Garage

Sick of her renters not paying any rent, a Charlotte landlord spraypainted “DEADBEAT TENANTS” on the garage.

Of the renter, the landlord told WTVD, “She feels that just because this house is under foreclosure – - that’s neither here nor there — you still have to pay me.”

The tenant denied the accusation and said her security deposit should cover the rent.

It’s a modern-day scarlet letter of sorts (the spraypaint is red). Paying up through public humiliation.
