You're Most Likely To Get Stranded On The Tarmac With Delta And United

Every month the Department of Transportation issues the Air Travel Consumer Report. This month the report has statistics about tarmac delays — and the numbers aren’t good for Delta, United and their regional partners.

According to the data from the DOT here are the top 5 airlines with the highest percentages of regularly scheduled flights with tarmac delays of 2 hours or more:

1. Comair — this is a small regional carrier that flies under Delta’s name as “Delta Connection” and is a is a wholly owned subsidiary of the airline.

2. Delta

3. Atlantic Southeast Airlines — this company operates regional flights as both Delta Connection and United Express

4. United Airlines

5. US Airways

Both United and Delta could face hefty fines for their slothful ways — they were the only two airlines to operate flights that violated the new rules governing tarmac delays.

There were only two airlines that had no delays of 2 hours or more: Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines.
