Uh-Oh: 15 Million Pounds Of SpaghettiOs Recalled By Campbell's

I never got the whole SpaghettiOs thing. It always kinda tasted like noodles in ketchup to me. And now I’m quite thankful I’m not a fan, because Campbell Soup Co. has issued a recall for 15 million pounds worth of SpaghettiOs products do to the presence of undercooked meat in the canned pastas.

According to the recall, the SpaghettiOs are being recalled “out of an abundance of caution” because of a malfunctioning cooker at the Campbell’s plant in Paris, Texas. The company says they believe the problem began only recently, but can’t say for certain so the recall includes some items going back to 2008.

The products subject to the recall are:
* “SpaghettiOs” with Meatballs in 14.75-ounce cans;
* “SpaghettiOs” A to Z with Meatballs in 14.75-ounce cans; and
* “SpaghettiOs” Fun Shapes with Meatballs (Cars) in 14.75-ounce cans.

Any of these products bearing a “Use By” date between June 2010 and December 2011 with the plant code EST4K are affected by this recall. The products have the following individual codes on the bottom of the cans:

According to the USDA, no customer complaints have been received at this time.

Though the recall involves a total of 15 million pounds of SpaghettiOs products, it is likely that a good deal of this food has already been eaten.

Consumers with questions about the recall can call Campbell’s Hotline at (866) 495-3774.
