Spirit Airlines Pulls Plug On Thursday's Flights

The Spirit Airlines pilot strike continues on with no immediate end in sight. It’s only early Tuesday afternoon and the airline has already opted to cancel all flights scheduled for Thursday.

The pilots union and airline management are reportedly set to have a sit-down today, but the decision to preemptively pull the plug on Thursday’s flights doesn’t bode well for the talks.

For travelers that have been put out, here’s what Spirit says:

we will process a future flight credit for the full amount of the unflown portion of your reservation plus an additional $100 future flight credit to thank you for your continued support.

Or, if you would prefer to receive a full refund for the unflown portion of your reservation instead, please call 1 (800) 772-7117 and one of our Customer Service Representatives will assist you. (Customers who prefer to receive a refund instead of a future flight credit will not receive the additional $100 future flight credit.)

Customers who made their reservation prior to May 11, 2010 and purchased travel insurance can call Travel Guard at +1 (866) 877-3191 to discuss coverage questions and to start an insurance claim. Policyholders may have valuable coverage for Trip Cancellation and Trip Interruption due to the pilots strike.
