"This Is Not A Test" – Subway Says It Definitely Will Start Tessellating Cheese July 1

Subway has officially confirmed what we reported last week based on leaked internal documents: they’re gonna start tesselating their cheese on all their sandwiches starting July 1st. Hot damn, summer in the city.

After photos of an Australia/New Zealand Subway newsletter surfaced, saying that no longer will Subway lay pieces of cheese in a series of overlapping corners, but rather in a series of interlocking triangles, as God and flavor intended, we followed up with the company.

subject reporter inquiry – Subway to start tessellating cheese July 1?

Is Subway going to change its cheese layering procedure from overlapping to staggered? Can you confirm the authenticity of the attached screenshot of the Subway Down Under newsletter? Is this a regional test, or the first step of a global phase-in? Will the cheese layering procedure be changing in the U.S, and if so, when?

Hi Ben,

Sorry to have taken so long to get back to you as I was out of the office.

To answer your question, it is true. We are changing the way cheese is placed on sandwiches. This is not a test. It is being done on a worldwide basis and will be fully implemented by July 1st.

Les

Every generation has its defining moment. Where were you when JFK was shot? When the troops stormed Normandy? When the Berlin wall came down? For us, it will be July 1st, 2010, the day every Subway, in every country, tessellates its cheese.
