Children's Tylenol, Motrin, Other Medications Recalled

Head to your medicine cupboards and start checking out the children’s meds you might have there — the Food and Drug Administration announced today Johnson & Johnson’s McNeil Consumer Healthcare Unit has begun a voluntary recall of various medicines because of manufacturing discrepancies.

Consumers are advised to stop using certain Tylenol, Motrin, Zyrtec and Benadryl children’s products because some could have too much of an active ingredient. There’s also a chance that some could include small particles and inactive ingredients that don’t meet testing requirements, said the company in a statement.

Included products in the recall: Tylenol Infants’ Drops, Children’s Tylenol Suspensions, Infants’ Motrin Drops, Children’s Zyrtec liquid in bottles and Children’s Benadryl Allergy liquids in bottles.

McNeil adds the chance for serious harm due to using these products is remote, but they should stop being used.

A complete list of recalled products and more info is available at mcneilproductrecall.com. Consumers may also reach McNeil at (888) 222-6036 from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Eastern time, Monday through Friday and on the weekends from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Eastern time.
