Robbers Break Into Bank, Don't Steal Anything

Much like the burglars in New Jersey who cut a huge hole in the roof to steal laptops, a crew of crooks in Brooklyn made their way into the safe-deposit room of a Sovereign Bank. But unlike the Best Buy burglary, these thieves didn’t take anything.

According to the NYPD, the robbers augured two holes into the Sovereign’s roof (the first one was apparently in the wrong spot), around 5pm on Sunday afternoon.

They managed to get down through the bank’s heating vents and eventually into the room where all the safe deposit boxes are — only to leave without taking a thing.

Of course, the assurances from the bank that their possessions were not taken didn’t do much to customers who were shocked to find out that their bank was so easily invaded.

“I almost had a heart attack, but I got a thumbs-up from the teller inside and now I’m feeling better,” said one customer who keeps jewelry and cash in a safe-deposit box at the bank. “I’m going to change my bank first thing tomorrow morning.”
