Make A Yo Momma Joke In Xbox Live Profile, Get Suspended

M. had his Xbox Live account suspended for making a mom joke that probably wouldn’t even have gotten his name on the board in third grade. His bio read “I like pie… URmoms PIE.”

And that got his account suspended.

His tale of woe:

I was recently playing on Xbox Live as I usually do after a day of work to wind down. Mid game I was kicked off Xbox Live and I just assumed it was for server issues as they have been quite common lately. When I tried to rejoin my game I was told I needed to sign in again… wasnt aware I signed out. Then I was given a message saying I was banned due to failure to follow the terms for the Code of Conduct.

This is part of the email:

The following content for the gamertag associated with this Windows Live ID was brought to our attention and was determined to have violated the Code of Conduct and/or Terms of Use:

You have been sent a message in the Xbox LIVE Dashboard notifying you when your suspension will end. During this suspension, you will not be able to log into Xbox LIVE. Your Xbox LIVE privileges will be automatically reinstated at the end of your suspension period.

Now I know the bio can be taken a couple different ways but honestly… it was a joke about my friends mom making good pie. There was no hidden message. There is nothing explicit. Its just a joke… not even one that anyone would find funny. It’s just something I said to my friend one night while I was setting up my account several years ago. Why am I being banned? Why after all these years? Is it really that bad? Other than just waiting it out there isnt reall anything I can do but am I wrong for being upset? Did I really deserve a suspension of my account and my ability to join my friends and family online for some gaming? Do I really deserve to have my Netflix taken away from me because of something as ridiculous as me saying I like your moms pie? Please tell me what I did wrong. I think Microsoft is going a bit overboard on this one. How many time a day does this happen and why me. Who really looks at the bio. I’m a 30 year old male who works with kids… There are kids on Xbox live saying things that make me blush and I’m the one getting banned?

I am tempted to make a joke about Microsoft’s momma on my own Xbox Live profile, just to see what happens. But I don’t want to mess up my good standing before Tecmo Bowl reboot comes out, so I’ll hold off.

By the way, I will own you all at that game.
