Talk about waiting for Christ’s birth during Advent, Walmart is already celebrating His resurrection.
Am I strange for wanting a Reese egg after seeing this picture?
No…you’re not strange. They taste sooooo much better than regular Reese cups.
The ratio of peanut butter to chocolate is so much better! I feel the same way about the pumpkins (halloween) and trees (christmas)
Oh yeah, any of the holiday Reese’s are so much better. I think you’re right about the peanut butter to chocolate ratio…they also taste a lot more fresh than regular ones.
Only because you didn’t say Cadbury Creme Egg.
Several years ago, I would have agreed with you. Now, notsomuch. They’ve gone seriously downhill.
I want my old Cadbury Creme Eggs back!
Oh lord……can’t they just put out the Valentine’s Day stuff before the Easter stuff???
And not until at least January 1st?
they did. last week. hehe
Hmmmmm….. maybe the Christmas stuff that’s already out is actually for next year. Perhaps we’ve gone from creep to black hole.
I think it bothers me more that the Cadbury eggs are on the right, and the Reese’s eggs are on the left. It doesn’t mesh with the logos on the box. It’s slightly jarring to me.
Great.
Now it’s bugging me, too.
Thanks.
No Problem. Anytime at all. ^^;
Pfft.. you’re doing it wrong. You don’t touch the candy until AFTER Easter when it’s on deep discount.
Mmm… post-Easter candy.
But wait, it IS after easter. (2009, anyway.)
I can’t tell if 2 for $1 is a pre- or post-easter price.
Might be Uncle Wally got confused with After-Christmas closeout and After-Easter Specials.
I may be against holiday creep, but if it gets me Cadbury creme eggs three months sooner, I say bring it on.
The problem is they’ll be all gone by mid-February, if Easter goods follow the Christmas goods example. Then it’ll be Easter and everyone will be pissed off about the lack of them.
My thoughts exactly. I will buy them out early and hoard them for the next 6 months.
Mini Egggggggggssssss! :homerdrool:
Who cares, it’s two for a dollar! SOLD!
Still 30 cents too much. Try going to the stores where restaurants buy their fare. If those supply houses can make money selling candy at 20 cents per bar, then so can WalMart and the rest of the ripoff artists… The only thing worse is the candy at the checkout, or the Quicky Marte…
Alas, I no longer work for a restaurant, but I have a friend who buys for one – so once a year I go with him and STOCK UP on everything… Candy pretty much keeps forever if you keep it cool…
But I sure could go for a Cadbury egg.
I think the bunny’s horrified expression says it all.
Wha???? So Christmas is no longer the birth of Jesus but the birth of the Easter Bunny.
i thought it was the hatching of the easter bunny, fully grown, from the ceremonial chocolate egg?
I wonder where Cupid fits into all of this. I probably don’t want to know.
“Happy birthday, baby Jesus! But don’t get comfortable.”
Best comment ever.
COOL!!! More time for Cadbury Cream Eggs!
…’cause when he’s gone, they’re gone.
The latest I’ve ever gotten a Cadbury Creme Egg was around mid-June (in the 10 cent bin at the mom & pop convenience store).
p.s. it was still delicious.
The green St. Patrick’s Day-themed peeps are starting to feel left out.
St. Pat’s is only a beer sodden adult holiday now with Halloween creeping up but still dragging in 2nd place due to candy sales…
Cripes, I haven’t even finished some of the Easter candy from last year
Save it for giving out during Halloween. We emptied my sons’ candy tubs of grandparent pushed candy from the Halloween prior and Easter for this Halloweens give outs. We had it left around because we do not allow our children to OD on candy no matter how nice the grandparent is…
TWO FOR A DOLLAR!?!
I’m there, baby!!!
My wife says that the walmart she works at put theirs out last night.
At least they put good stuff out..
Last year’s stock?
Craponnastick…that means they’ll be out of stock two weeks before the actual holiday, doesn’t it?
*grumblemuttergah*
i think you mean ‘two months’
No, they’ll keep it in stock up to a month before. That way everyone who walks past it because it’s a month off will be PUNISHED when they come back a week later to actually buy.
It also means it’ll be stale by Easter.
Especially if it’s last year’s supply.
The highlight of my year, candy-wise, are the smally candy-coated cadbury eggs. And the the caramel filled cadbury eggs. Dammit, I’m moving to England, they get a wider variety of cadburys all year long. Totally worth it.
http://www.britishdelights.com/cadbury.htm
Yes those caramel filled eggs are really worse then heroin aren’t they? I’d sell my grandmother for a six-pack if she were still alive, bless her zombie bones.
It has indeed been scientifically proven that creme eggs are teh win!
Ooooohhhhh… Milk boxes and roses…. Lucky you! And Smarties! The brits have much better candy than we do here in the states.
Cadbury flake stuck into soft serve vanilla ice cream is my favorite. If you ever get the chance to try it, do
Its typical, althought maybe creep has creeped up on the easter creep, I really would not know, as I dont pay attention to stores, and dont make it a habbit to, just to I cant write into Consumerist. I dont start getting ready for ANY holiday for atleast a couple weeks before it.
You have got to be kidding me.
Well, it was Target in ’07…
http://consumerist.com/2007/12/easter-creep-target-hauls-out-the-easter-products-on-december-26.html
…and CVS in ’08.
http://consumerist.com/2008/12/cvs-raises-the-creep-bar-easter-treats-in-december.html
By now, I’m not surprised.
It’s candy. Not worth worrying about. If they sell it, then keep it around all year IMO.
Cadbury Creep?
Odd how replying to a comment doesn’t actually reply. Is this just something on my end?
How long until Christmas creeps up to 365 days in advance? I predict around 2012… the Mayans were right!
Heysus died so Wal-Mart can get a jump in HFCS sales.
I went out for a walk this morning and I was surprised to not see any Xmas trees on the curb. I figure it’s only because the city doesn’t start tree pickup for a week. (Last year, some of the trees got dumped on by a heavy snow and didn’t get picked up until Easter).
I thought most folks kept the tree up until New Year’s Day, no?
I have a sister-in-law who has the tree out and the rug vacuumed by 5 pm on 12/25. For some folks, it’s simply a matter of when the next trash pick-up is. Some people are so done with the holiday, they get rid of all signs fast.
They should create a store that sells nothing but year round holiday goodies – all holidays at once.
Not only are the “eggs” on the wrong sides of the big display, I am surprised at the cost. I thought Wal-Mart was always boasting about their lower prices on everything. Looks like the price on the sign and the MSRP on the box are the same!
Those boxes are specifically made for WalMart to their specs. Not unusual to see a display box like that with the manufacturer’s logo on the front and WalMart’s on the side.
Check your calendar, Easter is early this year.
January 15th?
Considering Easter is April 4th, that’s putting Christmas Creep to shame (especially since I’m guessing a lower number of folks observe Easter as opposed to Xmas/Hanukkah/Kwanzaa).
I just took a look and the range of Easter dates is March 22 to April 25.
Don’t forget to order your Thanksgiving turkey now to avoid the rush.
Wait…did I miss Valentine’s Day again? Who could buy Easter candy now and still have it on Easter Morn?
Ah…and again we leap frog over valentines day!
I was in RiteAid today and they were cracking open the Valentine’s Day candy already!
I was in RiteAid today and they were cracking open the Valentine’s Day candy already!
Three month old candy…yummy!
Don’t worry Walmart probably already has predictions on next years Xmas orders…
Remember these are the guys who figured out that beer and Poptarts sell as hurricane preparation…
I wonder if that’s last years candy in clearance!
Our local WalMart is apparently ahead of the pack. We have Christmas leftovers, Valentine’s Day and St. Patrick’s Day paraphernalia, AND Easter candy. Pick your holiday and go!
