If you’ve always skipped the brothels while in Nevada because they didn’t offer the kind of companionship you’re looking for, Merry Christmas! On Friday, the Nevada Board of Health changed its health code so that male sex workers can be tested regularly for STDs, which means starting next year men can sell sexual favors alongside the women working at the Shady Lady Ranch.
It turns out that until last week, the health code mandated regular cervical exams for sex workers, which pretty much excluded men from working legally. Now the code says cervical or urethral exams will be accepted.
According to the Las Vegas Sun, a lobbyist for the Nevada Brothel Owners Association is not happy with the change:
We’ve worked hard for years to make the traditional brothel business in this state socially acceptable and something we can be proud of that most Nevadans accept,” [George] Flint added. “We have some concerns that this can be diluted by what Ms. Bobbi Davis [owner of the Shady Lady Ranch] wants to try.”
Davis told the newspaper that she may start having men working at her ranch as soon as January, and in fact there’s a job placement ad up on the Shady Lady Ranch website, if you’re interested:

I feel the same way. Male nudity can only be used for comedic purposes it seems. There’s just something super threatening about frontal male nudity, I guess.
I hate the fact we’re up to what? 5 Saw movies now complete with grotesque scenes of torture. Nobody bats an eye to that. But heaven forbid we show some wang or vagina in a movie.

As a Vegas resident I can say there is a big push to legalize all prostitution throughout the state. Regulate it, license it, and tax it – we need the money bad. Hopefully the steps to allow males to offer their services is just another step forward in the effort to get the legislation caught up with the people.
Its funny, the same people complaining about taxes will probably start whining about this revenue opportunity.

you are probabaly correct. Straight women have it very easy if they want to get laid, straight dudes, not so much (well thats not true, but its harder for guys). Gay guys have the shame factor to deal with, which sucks. This is why online gay porn is such a huge business right now.
I’ve heard guys say that for years and it’s just not true. I’m attractive, but I’ve gone home plenty o’ times when maybe I’d have preferred not to. I’m not saying it’s as hard as it is for straight guys, but it’s not like we can walk in a room and point at someone and it’s a done deal.

Here’s one way to prove the theory. Take an equally attractive man and woman. Have each approach 100 people in bars and clubs over the course of a month. Walk up to a member of the opposite sex and offer “Wanna fuck?” Let’s see who has the highest number of acceptances.

How are “sex workers” different from “prostitutes”? Prostitute has a negative connotation because it refers to people who have sex with people for money. So the prostitutes change the term to “sex workers”? All these new PC terms annoy me.

So that means strippers have to get cervical or urethral exams? That seems like overkill.
Maybe I’m not up-to-date on my terms, but I believe strippers fall under “exotic entertainment” Since they don’t actually have sex with you (or aren’t supposed to, anyway) as part of their jobs, they’re not technically “sex workers.”
“Sex Worker” can also be seen more positive then a prostitute because there is less risk involved. Not saying 100% guaranteed safe, but if I had the choice of a prostitute or a “Sex Worker” who has “strict” guidelines to maintain, I think the choice is obvious

“Sex workers” is not PC. If the term were something like “personal entertainment assistants” that might be PC, but there is nothing euphemistic about “sex workers”. Back in ’97 while researching for an article for college assignment, I read that the rate of HIV for women walking the street in LV was 2 of 3 women, whereas it was 0 for any women in the brothels. If I EVER were to do go this route, I would NEVER pick up a broad off the street. On the other hand I get a nauseated feeling about having sex with any women that YOU guys may have just had also. that’s how I feel about the whole thing. Prostitution has existed practically forever. It’s going to happen whether it’s legal or not, so might as well make it safe and regulated. The tax money doesn’t hurt anything either.
Not only that, but the fact that prostitution is illegal causes the very thing laws against it claim to stop, exploitation. When a prostitute gets beat up by a John or mugged and money stolen, she can’t go to the police and instead has to rely on a pimp (whom is often as abusive as any John) to do all the enforcing. This sort of clandestine business relationship is prime for abuse. If the pimp becomes abusive a prostitute again can’t go to the police because they will most certainly arrest her.
And there’s a reason its called the oldest profession in the world. No matter how hard government tries to keep Prostitution illegal, they’re not going to stop it. It’s been tried by cultures in ancient times and it doesn’t seem like we’re putting much of a dent in it now.

Men can get all crazy attached over a short term love affair, or get all political. Clean sex with a man who knows what he is doing could be quite fun. A man who knows how to use a condom among other things. If you could be assured of a hot guy (per your definition of hot), no strings, no wedding ring, regular std tests and clean sex practices, no games, not going to go psycho after, maybe more than one, you set all the rules… I think I am about to make a road trip.

There’s actually been some research on the subject. I can’t remember where it was done, but at one university they had an array of men and women wander around a college campus and walk up to members of the opposite sex and basically say “I find you attractive, will you sleep with me?” What it found is that men will be willing to sleep with most anyone who exceeds some baseline of attractiveness while women tend to have higher standards and require more of a relationship beforehand. Anecdotally, this hypothesis can be tested by posting in Casual Encounters on Craigslist. Post in w4m and you’ll have a couple hundred replies within a day. Post in m4w and you may get a handful of spam emails trying to get you sign up for dating sites.
Yes, I know the research you’re talking about. What it found is that women are not as willing to run home alone with a strange man who approaches them in public and asks for sex. This is a safety issue, not a “men will hump trees and women are picky” issue. (Gay men don’t have this much of a problem, they also don’t have the slut-shaming culture directed at straight women.)
Really, talk to some actual women. Just like with you guys, finding a random sexual partner who we might not be at all attracted to with the lights on is much different than finding somebody you *want* to sleep with.

5) There is pretty much a guarantee that he will not call me the next day or stalk me.
