OK so I'm excited because I missed it last week.. I had to go out of town for the weekend to go to a gamer clan meetup/bbq..

Anyway I'm excited that the thread is open NOW because I'm at work all day by myself and it's raining here and I haven't seen anyone in like.. 3 hours.

I'm BORED.

Wheeeeee it's Fridayyyyy! I have a ton of work to do this weekend, but I may be going to Cape Cod for Sunday and part of Monday to see some family that we don't see often (they live in Virginia, I'm in CT, they just bought a house on the Cape, so we're excited). I'm stoked.

@katstermonster: But where is MostlyHarmless? He's gonna be pissed if he misses this! I don't think I've seen him on any threads this morning, though.

been an interesting week. the little black and white rescue kitten has a foster-to-adopt home and his own little boy to play with!

and i had to explain to my dad [who owns the server my site is hosted on] that if the ATF wants to know how to find me that it's ok to tell them, i didn't do anything illegal.

the wall street journal wants to print my legal name so i turned down the interview. i don't think the grizzled veteran reporter understands the concept of an online only identity that i don't want associated with things like my work or giving the stalker a way to find me.

off to the local high end steak house for a work party [yes, it's cool but i'd rather have not had to be awake at 6 am for this] and i will look back later to see what hijinks ensue....

@katstermonster: I've seen him.. he must be busy. He responded to the Morning Deals thread quite a bit today.

It's been raining for two days and Mini McGee is teething. I'm pondering banging my head into the wall until it feels better.

On the happy side, I think I'm going orienteering tomorrow, with the baby in the Bjorn. Doing one of the easy courses, obviously, without any "off-trail" stuff. But it seems like a fun family outdoor activity that we can manage with the baby in tow.

I'm sad because I don't have any concerts to go to this weekend. Next weekend though is GWAR (!!!), and the week after that is Captured! by Robots (if this guy is in your area, go see him seriously).

My city is having it's Oktoberfest celebration this weekend, so that should keep me occupied. :)

@catastrophegirl: I think I missed the middle part of the story. Why do ATF and the WSJ want you? Aside from your general charm and good company?

@catastrophegirl: I know what you mean.. at the BBQ I was at last weekend there was a newspaper reporter interviewing everyone and it turns out that I made it into the paper.. I'm hesitant to post it here because it includes my last name, which I usually keep hidden online.

BUT.. it's already out there.. so I'm torn.

I'm really excited and feel "famous" today. It's neat.

so the WSJ wants to interview me for an article about the flavored tobacco ban and i said not with my legal name.

not that i don't think the ATF could find me and probably already knows where to reach me should they choose to. i'm not doing anything illegal by making my own, only if i was selling them.

it's just that i don't really want any details about where i live now, what i look like now, etc, to be associated with my legal name. it's not online except in a couple of places that you would have to know exactly what to look for... a guy has been stalking me since high school and i don't want to make it easy on him

@MostlyHarmless: i saw one in a book once that was a leg frame on each end that turned one way with the long side up against the underside of the tabletop and the short side out it became a coffee table and then you turned the short side up to the table and the long side out and it was a dining table.
it was from the 80's though so i don't think it's available now

@Kimaroo - 20% More Kitty Added!: Awww you. I know how boring it is. There have been some holidays where I have worked so I can save up vacation time. It feels nice for a while. And then the suckage sets in really fast.

@MostlyHarmless: Yeah, tables with the raising tops ... often two side sections that raise up, with a middle section that stays put, and storage under the two side sections. Bonus, you could store your laptop inside the section under the raising top!

By "Age Inappropriate" I meant too young in my case, but too old works too. But then, "too old" is hardly a big deal. Everyone has crushes on someone older.

Which they're starting to do now because they're on lunch and there is a break in the rain.. but I don't expect it to last.

Well, no concerts or movies this weekend, but I am hoping to get tickets to a stage production of The Thin Man tomorrow night. And then Sunday is either going out driving to look at fall colours, or going antiquing (or both) for my Mother's birthday. So, should be a fun weekend, so long as the weather cooperates.

I have a bellydancing performance for a local group of midwives tomorrow. Seeing as it's getting closer to Halloween, and I don't get many opportunities to dance in the fusion style that I really love, my teacher/troupe instructor gave me a little more leeway on music this time.
Which, of course, means that I had to pick Siouxsie and the Banshees.
Hell. Yes. This is going to be so much fun.

Sadly, she has passed away, but this was my rescued Chihuahua Monkey. (And also a rare glimpse up my nose.)
