what about the $50 cards?

user-pic

hmm, it looks like the label isn't even For those cards, It says "itunes heaRt" So i am assuming They had/have a card that is worth $30 with a heart on it, and the stocker had PrObably gotten lazy and put that STicker for all of the cards. still pretty funny though.

user-pic

@JackHack: While you're probably right, retail practice is that if you don't have the correct stock item available, place something similar in it's place that's the same or lower value and put up an out of stock tag. It would explain the problem, though looks like they were too lazy for the OOS tag.

user-pic

The REAL problem is they're paying some LAZY JACKASS to do half a job! While there are hundreds of THOUSANDS of people that are out of work that would be glad to stock the store CORRECTLY!!

user-pic

Is that the first time you've seen something on the wrong hook?

user-pic

Can we make it a rule/guideline that if you submit pictures like this, you need a non blurry closeup of the tag/label? Not that I am saying it's fake, just that it makes a stronger case if the tag IS wrong.

user-pic

@GitEmSteveDave_ItCOULDLift #BalloonBoi: You have to remember that most people don't carry around cameras with them. These pictures are probably all taken with CellPhone cameras, so this is as good as it gets.

user-pic

I had a dream last nite that me and Meghann Marco went shopping to Target and as we walked hand in hand up and down the aisles she provided witty and sarcastic commentary on the merchandise we saw. Later we went back to my place and fell asleep in each others arms while watching Moonstruck on DVD. God I need to get out more often. :(

user-pic

Yea, sorry - not a story. Having something on the shelf under the wrong price is NOT the story.

NOW, if they were to take a $15 to the register and Target rang them up for $30 even though it has $15 on the card, then it might be a story.

.... but I'm pretty sure it would ring up at $15 and not $30...

..... so FAIL, not a story.

user-pic

@CompyPaq: Not to prove you wrong, but this is a sample of some pictures I have taken with my Casio GzOne camera. Not the best in the world, and my hands are by no means steady:

I took these about 10 minutes ago on my fridge:

user-pic

@BeFrugalNotCheap: Yeah, see that's one of those comments that started out funny, then went creepy real quick.

user-pic

I was at Target the other day and noticed they're putting out little 'Out of [product a] -- try [product b]!' types of signs. The one I saw recommended a leave-in conditioner as a replacement for a box of hair colouring; not really sure how that would work.

user-pic

@JulesNoctambule: pretty sure it works a lot like the sign at walgreens today on the milk cooler that said "wrong color? ask our beauty consultant!"

user-pic

@catastrophegirl: That's "our beauty consultant, Elsie."

user-pic

@JackHack: Looks like you may have forgotten an "E". Sneaky, though. Good work.

Anyway, that'd be my guess too but if they mislabel (and this counts as mislabeling) they will often go with the shelf-listed one (In my experience, anyway).

user-pic

@GitEmSteveDave_ItCOULDLift #BalloonBoi: I'd like to add that you can branch out a bit more from Target. I've submitted some examples from non-Target that weren't posted.

Perhaps it'd be best to hold on to submissions until there are a few in the queue, and post them all at once. Some of the blurry or improperly cropped ones could be filtered out that way as well.

user-pic

...Consumerist takes one more step down along that slippery slope toward becoming the next 'failblog'.

user-pic

1. Target Face Palm

2. I gotta get in on this deal, I HAVE to buy a bunch, and sell them on eBAY for $50, instead of $30. Thats a $20 profit over what I paid, and a $35 profit over the facevalue of the card. AWESOME!!!

user-pic

I don't think it's the company's fault if there's a small tag incident at one of its stores.

user-pic

@leastcmplicated: No, but this time it's TARGET, so it's relevant, har har har!

user-pic

I'm not 100% sure, but I think in the label it says "3PK" which would mean it is referring to the 3 Pack of $10 iTunes Gift Cards, which they sell. This would just simply be a mistake in shelving.

Here's an example of the 3 Pack Holiday edition they sell at Best Buy to show they do exist: [www.bestbuy.com]

user-pic

@coan_net:

Darn right.

But you know The Consumerist, nobody (except the Consumerist and the protected companies) are ever entitled to make a mistake.

user-pic

@AppleAlex: Yours for the low, low price of $30. Which explains the lack of $50 cards.

user-pic

Wow...someone put giftcards on the wrong hang tag...or forgot to update the price. That's a story.

C'mon they probably ring up correctly...these kind of stories are killing this site.

user-pic

I don't know where Consumerist finds these photos from Target because the ones that I've shopped at don't seem to have these issues.

user-pic

@crichton007:
Every store occasionally has something in the wrong spot (as is the case here) or an old price tag that was never removed... For some reason Consumerist thinks it's interesting enough to warrant a post, but only when it happens at Target.

user-pic

Consumerist fail?!? No really. All OP has to do is take a card to the wall scanners in every department and check the price. Yeah...the cards were stocked in the wrong location. Big f-ing deal. Instead, he breaks out the camera and takes a picture.

From one nick to another nick...dude...get some common sense.

user-pic

@MooseOfReason: He was trying to say "First Post" without actually saying it and looking like a tool and/or giving us all a Consumerist BINGO space. Use the mis-capitalized letters to form word(s).

user-pic

@bornonbord: +1. It seems like readers/posters have jumped on the anti-Target-price-tag bandwagon, so now we just get a lot of repeat posts that essentiall say, "Har har! Look at stupid Tar-zhay with their dumb employees that can't do anything right. Hahahaha." Yeah, it's getting kind of old. We get it, Target needs to pay more attention.

user-pic

@StanTheManDean:
It was probably just marked as being "horrible" because it comes from Target, and it is pricing related.

user-pic

@MooseOfReason:

Agreed. If this sort of thing is post worthy, then lookout Consumerist inbox! I'll take blurry camera photos of every mis-shelved item at my grocery store and send 'em in.

user-pic

Seriously, Consumerist? With all the real scams and problems facing consumers these days you present us with "ooh, Target put the wrong iTunes cards on the wrong hook"?

Please stop.

user-pic

@GitEmSteveDave_Hates #DoucheDad: Yeah...like Meg would go to Target with anyone that owns Moonstruck.

user-pic

I'm off to rearrange and mess up the display at Target and then take some photos,

user-pic

@Cant_stop_the_rock: But it's because Target is CA-RAZY!!!!

But seriously I love Target. But if randomly placing stuff on wrong tags will get me on the site, sign me up! Conditioner in the bike aisle for $100? Target, you've lost it!*

*I'm joking Consumerist, you won't be seeing anything like that from me. Plus, as I said, I love Target.

user-pic

@catastrophegirl: Ha! I'll have to keep an eye out for that one.

user-pic

Oh come on, seriously? This is a standard retail practice, you don't want empty racks, so you move lower priced items into that space temporarily, then the guest is pleasantly surprised when it comes up cheaper at the register.

user-pic

Hmmmmmm - I'll take a $500 card then, thanks! Here's $30.

user-pic

@leastcmplicated: I swear, it's like someone just woke up from a 1000-year coma and is transfixed by nonsensical issues. The photographer could just as easily have put different cards on the pegs himself. HURF DURF let's put Tylenol in the Advil slot and take pictures for Consumerist!

user-pic

@nibblersmom: But surely there are some consumers who would not notice it.

user-pic

we are already confused enough without this. hire someone who can read and think.
