That’s a good deal on the pillows. I always buy my pillows online, as you save on shipping, since a pound of feathers/filling weighs less then, say, a pound of books. Most major shippers give pillow retailers a break on shipping because of that.
@GitEmSteveDave_IsStrongInTheSnark: I always buy all of my lightweight stuff online, usually in half-ton increments, since the shipping is so low.
@Chris Walters: You’d be amazed at the volume a half ton of Honey Nut Cheerios is. No need for pillows when you’re entire bedroom is like a swimming pool of sweet nector bliss.
@bornonbord: I imagine that would be somewhat messy and annoying in the summertime.
@SabreDC: As would redoing the bedroom in cotton candy. Don’t ask how I know.
@MameDennis: That’s the Trading Spaces risk you take–you might get Hildy.
@floraposte: Theres one thing about Hildy.. she was always entertaining.. in one way or another.
I miss Trading Spaces : /
@Kimaroo – No Stars Upon Thars: I still have nightmares about that bathroom where she covered the walls in fake flowers.
@Cogito Ergo Bibo: That was ugly!! I think my cats would have enjoyed her hay walls.
@MameDennis: Well, your balls are going to be sticking to your leg anyway in the summer, so why not go the cotton candy route?
@Chris Walters: Once I bought a half-ton of sand. For reals. It came to my house in a dump truck and they dumped it on my driveway.
@Eyebrows McGee (now with more baby!): I hope that’s where you wanted it. did you have to sift it?
@GitEmSteveDave_IsStrongInTheSnark: Yes, and no. It was for footing a brick patio. We used the extra to fill in some paths in our veggie garden, but we still didn’t have to sift it.
They apologized to me that because I ordered less than a ton, I had to pay extra … once you hit a ton, there’s a per-ton rate and the delivery cost goes down. I was like, “Dude, I don’t think I’ve ever gotten a half-ton of ANYTHING for $78 delivered!”
@GitEmSteveDave_IsStrongInTheSnark: interesting! wonder how much they charge to ship a pound of gold?
@Carencey: Well, since gold is weighed in Troy ounces, which differ from regular ounces, something different than you would expect.
Note, the Free Cookie coupon is for tomorrow, October 24
I bought the Acer monitor. My Emerson TV is on the way out, and while I can’t watch TV on the Acer, I’ll need something to play my PS3 and 360 on once it dies once and for all.
Besides, I don’t watch much TV anyway.
@Cyberxion101: For $60ish bucks you can get a capture card and watch TV on your monitor. Plus, it will turn your PC into a DVR, which is really nifty if you don’t already have one.
Those are pretty solid prices on data storage, and that monitor looks like it would be fantastic for games, as Cyberxion mentioned. I use an ASUS HD monitor for my PS3 and 360 and it’s much better than a bigscreen television; the picture’s much more crisp and defined, and it seems to be less strain on the eyes.
You could probably get some use out of the $350 laptop, too.
Wow, that Leatherman Fuse combo set is 60 cents off! Gotta act quickly though.
I think spending $78 to get a half ton of sand delivered to my ex-brother-in-laws house would be money well spent. Revenge never came so cheap.
@gparlett: A half-ton is disappointingly less than you think it’s going to be.
My husband and I shifted it into place with shovels in a single weekend of not-very-hard labor.
It was only like $90 for the full ton, though ….
