New Terms Of Service For Twitter

2466 views

Twitter has just posted new terms of service clarifying a few points that have come up now that the service is popular and stuff. They've changed the terms to clarify a few points, such as advertising (they retain the right to advertise) ownership (you own your tweets) and rebroadcast (they can retweet you far and wide.) I don't use twitter. At all. Until today when I found someone's twitter feed and stalked the hell out of the last 3 months of their lives.

Is there a way to make your feed private? Kinda like facebook? So that creeps like me can't see what you're twatting? Or do you just have to be smart about it?

@bornonbord: What you say is true: You can make your tweets private, but the problem is that if you set your account that way, the only people who can see your @ replies are those who are already following you. It is frustrating to see stuff you want to respond to only to realize that the other person will never get your reply bc your account is private.

@bornonbord: What you say is true: Twatting? To quote Inigo Montoya "I do not think it means what you think it means."

For so long, the founders of Twitter said they wouldn't resort to advertising to generate revenue. Guess they are preparing to do just that.

wait, they can RT my protected feed?

@putch: I think that's referring to public feeds, since they have privacy settings for a reason.. but keep in ind that anyone who follows you can RT your protected tweets.

@DaWezl: I really wish Twitter would change that. I want my account to be private but I can never interact with celebrities, musicians, companies, etc., who I don't want to follow me, but do want to contact once in a while.

New TOS? They can expect a tweet from my lawyers.

So what can you do to prepare for regular old flu season and possible swine flu problems? Get vaccinated, practice good hygiene, and don't panic.

Also, never forget your towel and remeber 42.

Couldn't resist on a Friday.

@Radi0logy: It's a Colbert reference (see [www.milkandcookies.com]). I've adopted the term myself, mainly I'm vehemently anti-Twitter and only have an account to access customer service and support reps for companies that are otherwise unavailable.

I think twitter should be limited to a 140 character terms of service, if only in the interest of fairness.

If I see another TV broadcaster tweeting right in the middle of their show......oh wait, I just tweeted about that.

@azsumrg1rl: Being public is kind of the point of Twitter. That's like renting a billboard but only letting your friends see it.
