Martha Stewart And Home Depot Enter Pact
Starting in January, you'll be able to buy Martha Stewart-branded patio furniture, storage bins, and toilet wine kits at your local Home Depot, thanks to a new multi-zillion dollar business deal the two companies have cooked up. Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia's old deal with Kmart—which a company tells the Atlanta Journal-Constitution earned them upwards of $1 billion annually at its peak—expires that same month.

@FooSchnickens: that is a scary chop indeed. thats also the first thing I thought when i saw the pic.
I bought some of Martha's patio furniture at K-Mart, and I have to say that it is some of the worst crap I have ever owned!. The legs on the tables and chairs are being eaten away by rust and every time it rains my patio turns orange from the rain mixing with said rust.
You should probably stay away from Home Depot once they start selling this stuff...or at least stay away from the returns department because the lines will probably be VERY long...
@pecan 3.14159265: How to make Pruno at home!
That toilet wine kit thing made me smile a bit. Having a blue day today.
@pecan 3.14159265: OK, I found this reference in Urban Dictionary: [www.urbandictionary.com] . With that context it is clearly an allusion to Martha's stay in the "big house".
For someone like Martha Stewart, I have to admit that I think her kitchen-ware merchandise that is sold at macy's looks and feels pretty low standard. I do not own anything from her brand and probably never will. I could only imagine the similar quality for her merchandise line at Home Dump I mean Depot. Birds of a feather I guess.
@nnj: I like some of her Macy's kitchen ware. For things like colandars, strainers and basic mixing bowls, the prices aren't too bad. I wouldn't buy any of the cookware, but spatulas and other simple tools are just fine for their price.
@calquist:
They've been on life support courtesy of Ms. Stewart for a long time in my opinion. Take away Martha, there's nothing left but dirty stores with narrow aisles. And one cash register open.
d@ColoradoShark: God bless urban dictionary.
Although most of their stuff (ok like 95%) is sexual related it still has some good uses here and there (and always humorous)
@friendlynerd: Our two Kmart stores are still hell holes but I did find some decent deals on flip flops and a pair of work shoes this summer. It was also the only store in town that had work shoes in the style & size said kid wanted.
Some of the Martha Stewart kitchen items at Kmart are pretty decent quality and comparable to the items at the restaurant supply store or better. I may have to go stock up on a few things before they run out.
I think if Kmart dumped Sears, found a huge cash infusion and some more creative management they could still make a comeback. I do doubt the people in charge have the brains to do so.
@Eels: If Home Depot started carrying her kitchen goods I would make the trip. I never really bothered with them at Macy's.
@Chumas: You'd better keep that ladder handy for when you change them come winter. Wouldn't want the neighbors to point, laugh, and whisper behind your back, now would we?
@trlblzr: Yes, and like the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, they didn't realize that spell check won't catch something if it's actually a word.
@friendlynerd: Maybe the nearly three-dozen brand-new copies of Too Human for sale at my local Kmart for the low, low price of $64.99?
I kid you not. Next time I work up the courage to step into that filthy hellhole I'll snap a pic.
For those unaware, you can get brand new copies of Too Human from...pretty much anywhere for around $10. I bought it and I can tell you that the game suffers heavily from ideas not fully coming to fruition. Plus, it genuinely feels like it was built from the ground up with the idea that it would be a four-person game with each person filling a different role. In that respect, it would have been a fantastic game. As it is (single player or two-person Co-Op) its OK at best.
@friendlynerd: lol My thoughts exactly! I've taken to calling them Home Despot for all the things I hate about them.
Close to my house there is a store...I could swear they have no more than 6 people working at a time in there. They don't even run a single manned checkout... I'm all for saving your customer's time with a self checkout option, but when normal checkouts are reduced or even eliminated (!) for the privilege, I have VERY little desire to do business with them anymore.
@whateverthisis: It looks like a classic "dumb *|SELECT_GROUP|*" joke, but it's actually just a callback to this:
@FooSchnickens: I work at Home Depot, I hope I don't start superimposing her head on my coworkers bodies.
@Persistence: Probably not, she's not really poking her head into their biggest profit area's. I work there, they make more money off of contractors, selling kitchens and all their big-ticket installation services (carpet, roofing, doors & windows, etc.) than they do patio furniture and decor stuff.
