$2000 for communications? What is she doing? Making international calls all day?

user-pic

Who cares?

Why do you think you're entitled to know?

What difference does it make, granted that she poops money anyway?

user-pic

I am not sure I understand the point of this post, so someone is using there Amex card and they happen to be famous?

user-pic

@milkcake: This is for 11 months. That comes to a little under $200 a month, so she's probably got an iPhone.

I don't see what the big deal is here. At all.

user-pic

@milkcake: Think about how much you pay for phone service per month and multiply it by 11.

user-pic

Oh boy, we can still pretend to be Jezebel even independent of the gawker network. How totally thrilling.

user-pic

I completely agree, what relevance does this have to consumers? This is not TMZ.com, PerezHilton.com or any other of those trashy tabloid websites.

user-pic

@milkcake: Plus she must have an entourage and they all need to be on her plan.

user-pic

When I saw the headline and the photo, my judging was NOT of Britney's AMEX bill.

user-pic

@YouDidWhatNow?: Exactly. I really couldn't possibly care less about what she does with her money. I just wish she'd stop calling me.

user-pic

Big deal, I used to work for a "socialite/song writer" her Amex bill was 25k a month.
Brit is doing well!

user-pic

@CompyPaq: Not to mention it's perfectly reasonable for someone like her to be making international calls all day.

user-pic

Actually, pretty conservative considering her net worth. Good job Brittney!

user-pic

All of you guys are completely missing the point. You are supposed to stare at the picture of her delicious cleavage.

user-pic

@Ratty: Lol. I definitely had to recheck my browser address though this is probably more Defamer than Jezebel.

At least it's not a Twitter analysis a la Owen at Valleywag *shudder*

user-pic

My entertainment budget (including books) is $50 per month. Apparently I spent more than britney on that count. Interesting.

user-pic

SO if you're behind a counter somewhere and Britney Spears hands you an American Express, what do you do?

user-pic

Actually, I think there's some interesting things to glean from that. You'd expect someone that "high profile" to have a steeper restaurant bill than that -- there are quite a few "normal folk" that probably do spend more that that in a year.

user-pic

@milkcake: That's not too far off my expenses for 11 months if you cut out the "merchandise" and "furniture" categories -- mine run about 10% of hers.

user-pic

Seems to me that needs to be broken down a bit more..."merchandise, clothing, supplies and groceries : 62K"...I think I spend more on entertainment than she does, but methinks some of that entertainment is being lumped into a few other categories.

user-pic

Yeah I know there are huge holes in that reasoning. It is only as sound as Britney's common sense.

user-pic

Re: People who think this is useless.

Smart people learn from others. If you think about it the right way, there is a fair bit you can glean from this one about yourself right now and about yourself in the future. Thats all.

user-pic

@milkcake: Of all the things on the list, "Communications" is the one that sticks out for you? What about $62,000 in groceries, "merchandise", "supplies", and clothing? No bells there?

user-pic

@Thanatos: Thats about $6,000 per month on food, drinks, cloths, and I am assuming "supplies" means miscellaneous other crap. Thats seems reasonable considering her income level.

user-pic

@CompyPaq: I only pay 420 a year for my HTC Touch Pro on Sprint.

user-pic

@MostlyHarmless:
What can I glean about myself right now and in the future? In the now and in the future I won't be a wealthy celebrity who has the ability to spend money like this?

Or, can I learn from Britney how to live within my means properly?

Or am I gleaning that now and in the future I will find myself at times disappointed in this website.

user-pic

@parliboy: What I'm getting firstly is that she donates more to charity than most people do. Her contributions seem to be at a level that is at least in some degree, proportionate to her wealth. A lot of people don't donate anything at all.

user-pic

@drizzt380:
Well, I've learned I have no interest in the spending habits of Britney Spears, and no interest in invading someone's private financial information.

user-pic

@drizzt380: Or it could be an excellent primer on how you will end up if you act like a d-bag.

user-pic

@pecan 3.14159265: Alot of the charity donations from famous people are in form of old clothing or autographed items for charity auction etc...

user-pic

@Saboth: What ever AMEX considered entertainment merchandise, clothing, etc

user-pic

@gqcarrick: Thanks for your wonderful contribution to this article. You should be awarded a Pulitzer or something for your great and original comment.

user-pic

@YouDidWhatNow?:

Exactly, her finances are a personal matter.

+1

user-pic

@econobiker: And yet she donated almost a 1000 bucks from her Amex card. So basically, that makes her charitable habits even better.

user-pic

So where are the "child" expenses?

user-pic

@MostlyHarmless:
So you mean like yourself?

I mean, seriously, this shouldn't really be 'news', let alone public information. Truthfully, I would have expected it to come out much more than that.

user-pic

@RandomHookup: but you wanted to keep abreast of the situation right?

user-pic

She made over $35 million and spent, at a rough guesstimate, $56K on her Amex over 11 months. Hey big spender!

user-pic

@Ratty:
I guess Consumer's Union is getting desperate for page hits these days.

user-pic

How is this news-worthy? Mind your own business people.

Is there a Consumerist Bingo square for "Legitimately Poor Posting Decision Irritates Just about Everyone"? If so, "Bingo!"

"No, no, no - your Consumerist is in my celebrity gossip!"
