Finally, A Personal Finance Podcast For People Who Don't Want To Listen
The blog Personal Finance Hour is the home to a weekly live audio show with personal finance bloggers over whatever topics they like. Sometimes the conversation turns inward and focuses on trying to blog for profit, or blogging as a part time job. Sometimes the conversation is about things like remodeling your home or planning for a vacation.
What matters to me, though, is I don't like to listen to podcasts or talk shows; for me, headphone time is music time. Thankfully, the Personal Finance Hour website provides detailed written summaries of each show, written by one of their loyal fans, Brian of MyNextBuck.com. They're not transcripts, which would take too long and spoil the point of reading a summary instead of listening, and yet they're detailed enough that you don't have to listen to get a lot of the good stuff out of any particular episode.
Of course, you can also tune in live on Monday nights to listen, or download any previous episodes from the Blog Talk Radio page.

@nycaviation: Back in my day, it were called usenet. And we liked it! Get off my lawn. Yarrr*.
*Not really sure why the pirate bit came in there, but whatever.
@bennilynn: Seriously, though, I hate podcasts. I also hate clicking on what I think is a news link and realizing a moment too late it's actually a video or something. I agree with you, Chris! My headphones are for my music while I'm browsing the web. Up with summaries! Transcripts would be nice, too, but I'll take what I can get.
My problem with podcasts based on blogs is that podcasts feel like they have to chew up an entire hour. Even 30 minutes is tedious.
If more podcasts were 3-5 minutes long, I'd be all over them. Kim Duke hosted a "Sales Diva" podcast last year - each post was 3 minutes long (or shorter) and it was easy to listen to them on the way to work.
I've never caught onto podcasting. I love This American Life, but even then I've fallen off the wagon with listening to it. The problem is, I never sync my iPhone. I need for the podcasts to automatically download without me syncing it. Maybe I'm being dense - it's early - can I have it automatically access iTunes and download the podcast to my iPhone without me needing to open iTunes?
@bennilynn: Ugh YES. I infinitely prefer text, in no small part because I read much, much faster than any normal person talks. And I can read text while I'm doing other things. And I don't have to have headphones on, at work, while I'm reading!
@Etoiles: I prefer text because it's so much easier to skim past something I'm not interested in.
I tried to listen to a pregnancy podcast and the first 15 minutes were the guests blathering about their pregnancies which I cared nothing about, I just wanted them to get to the actual topic.

Back in my day, Podcasts that were written down were called "blogs."
