Consumerist To Receive Consumer Education Leadership Award
This Wednesday Meghann Marco and myself Ben Popken will accept the National Consumers League Consumer Education Leadership Award. We are honored and thankful.
In a statement, the NCL said, "This award is given to individuals who have provided outstanding leadership in consumer education. Your contributions as Co-Executive Editors at The Consumerist have given consumers a new voice — empowering them with the tools of the digital age. Through your work, you have shown how consumer journalism can evolve in a turbulent era for traditional news outlets."
It all goes down at the 27th Annual Everett C. Parker Ethics in Telecommunications lecture and awards reception, 3:30pm at The Riverside Church, New York City. The event is free and open to the public. RSVP at woodardj [@] ucc dot org.

Yeah, and given them new avenues to be even less productive while arguing over *|SOME MEME|*
Congratulations first of all.. and second of all I'd like to let you know that the education yall provide is good and all that, but lets be honest here: It's the cats that kept me coming back.
Be sure to thank them too! All of the kitties in the pictures through the years have contributed a lot to this site!
I think Mr. Captain Duval Moneycat deserves a fresh bowl of Perfect Oatmeal today.
@Kimaroo - 20% More Kitty Added!: i think Cpt. Moneycat should be at the awards ceremony to receive the award on behalf of the consumerist. we all know "Ben Popken" & "Meg Marco" are just his pseudonyms.
Congratulations Consumerist... this has been in my daily-reading (and by that, I mean hourly) for a couple years now and it's one of my favorite blogs. I think in some ways the blog has changed for the worse (occasionally becoming anti-commercialism as opposed to pro-consumerism), but then there are always the stellar articles on getting what you pay for and fighting scandals like Cash4Gold that redeem.
So, a hearty congrats is in order.
@MichaelBrazell: yeah, no kidding on that daily reading thing. i actually stopped rss-feeding thru reader b/c it wasn't updating quickly enough.
/consumerist junkie 4 life.
@PencilSharp: "Ben, Meg, imma let you finish, but Starbucks makes the GREATEST OATMEAL OF ALL TIME and should be receiving this consumer award."
@Laura Northrup: So when is Consumerist going to hire one of the Baldwin brothers to film a mock Hulu commercial that announces your plan to take over the world, or internet, or government or whatever it is you guys really want to accomplish by brainwashing err educating us?
