@Laura Northrup: congrats! I love tomatoes, which is good 'cause we've got more than we know what to do with! Ohio tomatoes have somehow avoided this mysterious fungus you speak of.
@Laura Northrup: Om nom nom nom. I've been eating tomatoes every week for the last four or five weeks. I wish the juicy, bulbous heirlooms weren't so expensive ($4 a pound!), otherwise I'd make a meal out of one or two. Have you grilled one yet? Grilling tomato slices just makes it so much better.
@Laura Northrup: Gahhh I LOVE tomatoes. I eat them plain, like apples, with salt and pepper on every bite. So delicious.
I'm tired.. it's Friday! YAY! I still have a bit over an hour to go before I can go home..
I want to buy a new cellphone, mine somehow realized that I'm eligible for an upgrade and keeps doing suspiciously crappy things. Oh and it's battery life took a nose dive over the past week.
It knows.. and I'm on to it.
I really want a phone with Wifi (Non-Iphone) but I don't know.. I'm still looking around.
AT&T is my carrier, any phone reccomendations are welcome. (Oh and don't say "Ditch AT&T", I'm on a family plan and I don't have to pay the bill, so it's the best bargian for me!)
@DPGumby: if your weather has been anything like here in CT, the disease is root rot & it's b/c in the past 120 days, i've seen the sun twice. :(
it's supposed to be nice this weekend though! woohoo!
@Laura Northrup: I've been waiting for open thread...
Who hands out the stars around here? Because pecan 3.14159265 totally deserves one. Shes a better commenter than me (on rare occasions).
katstermonster: You have a long way to go before you get yours :P
@Kimaroo - 20% More Kitty Added!: Unfortunately, I think the only Blackberry with Wifi is the Storm, and that's on Verizon. I wanted a phone with Wi-fi as well, and that did not include the Blackberry Curve. iPhone it was!
@katstermonster: Mud volleyball... im getting images.
And ah yes margaritas... I've been having them on the weekends while working on something or the other. Theyre yummy and easy to make. Win Win.
Though this time i'll prolly let someone else do the drink making. I turned 25, and still single. I need to get sloshed out of my mind.
i have a black & yellow garden spider hanging in my threshold that almost took my face off the other day. i thought she was gonna eat me. not even kidding.
@MostlyHarmless: Hey hey now! This is mud volleyball for charity!
I recently discovered that I LOVE tequila. I always knew that I liked it, but you know how everyone (well, everyone who drinks) has Their Booze That They Like the Most? Turns out tequila is mine, I can't get enough. It's bad news. Unfortunately, margarita mixes give me nasty hangovers (for realz, like one drink in), so I have to make the real and more delicious ones instead! Hehe.
I got dumped last weekend. I plan on getting properly sloshed both tonight and tomorrow.
@mac-phisto: that's nothin'! You should have seen the pregnant Nursery Web spider in my basement a few weeks ago. Biggest damn thing I've ever seen.
@pecan 3.14159265:
He is just a kitty enjoying his noms.
Not to worry, if death is on your agenda, you would never even know it until its too late :3
@katstermonster: Awwwww poor you. Did he break up over the fact that you spend WAY too much time on the internetz? (too soon?)
I probably wont get sloshed tomorrow though. I am working on a couple of posts to get my blog active again. After months of hectic work and creativity sapping activities, I am finally getting the juice flowing again.
@Kimaroo - 20% More Kitty Added!: Ugh, I have a Blackberry Pearl on Verizon, and it's been lagging like crazy ever since I did an OS update earlier this week. And I'm not eligible for an upgrade. Bastards. It's playing games with my feelings.
@MostlyHarmless: Hahaha no, it's all good. He said "the thrill is gone," but, you know, "it's not a commitment issue." Ahahahaha. MEN. Yupp, 3 months in, that's usually when the "new and shiny" thing disappears. Also: he spends far more time on YouTube (he's a lazy grad student, too, at least for another week and a half) than I spend on Consumerist, so I think I'm safe on that count.
I just told my advisor that I'm going to do a PhD (maybe) instead of just a masters, so this is my last weekend of getting sloshed before I start spending every waking hour studying for qualifying exams. Glorious.
@MostlyHarmless: I agree about Pecan Pi entirely. However, I agree even more heartily with your assessment of me! I don't see any stars in my future...I'm at peace with it.
@katstermonster: here's my favorite:
1 tumbler
ice cubes to taste
4 fingers favorite tequila (mine's don julio)
1 lime, quartered & squeezed into drink (e-z-squeeze lime acceptable, but not preferred)
ENJOY!
you can add a bit of sugar if you like, but it's not needed.
@katstermonster: I know you've probably already done this, but have you turned it off and on? My iPhone lags a little bit once in a while and turning it off and then back on usually shakes it out of its funk. I've turned off my cell phone about three times since I've had it. I think because it stays on (but idle) most of the time, it gets into a little funk.
@mac-phisto: Delicious. I like to add triplesec when I can get my hands on it, just for a little extra sweetness. Yummy yummy yummy. I'm going out to a restaurant properly named "Margaritas" tonight, and theirs are AMAZING.
Also: Don Julio is amazing.
@katstermonster: And you dont need to worry. If you ARE going for a PhD as you said, you'll have LOTS of time post-quals "doing research" (on earning stars).
@Laura Northrup: We've got a full day of tomato canning tomorrow here in KC. Have more tomatos than we know what to do with.
@mac-phisto: I cant drink tequila without any mixes. I can do vodka shots just fine, but tequila shots make me feel sick.
@MostlyHarmless: Tequila shots are my favorite. :-D One time, I walked around an entire night with a bottle of Jose Cuervo, just talking swigs. Early in my college years....when I was considerably more stupid than I am now...
@pecan 3.14159265: I've pulled the battery a number of times, and I just did a full device wipe a few minutes ago, so we'll see if that helped. Thanks for the suggestion!
You should have named her Charlotte, then she could have won your pig a ribbon at the county fair!
@pecan 3.14159265: I currently have a Pantech Duo.. Pretty clunky lil phone but it's neat that it slides in both directions.
According to AT&T these have WiFi: Iphone, Nokia E71x, Samsung Propel, LG Incite, HTC Fuze, Samsung Epix, Blackberry Curve, Samsung Jack, Blackberry Bold, and Blackberry 8820
Now.. after that.. I'm pretty lost. lol.
@mac-phisto: Holy moly I wouldn't have been able to go in the door that day. Or any other day.. My house would become the house of Hestia.
*whimper*
@katstermonster: I don't know about tequila, man. The last few times I've had tequila, I did some pretty stupid stuff. A friend once said that when you have a group of people drinking tequila, clothes come off. Maybe not that extreme, but it's along the same lines.
So it's usually fun for me (until I remember it the next day), but not for others.
I need a good sloshing too.
@TCama: Something like this:
Alt-text: My biology grad student friends tell me that different types of alcohol don't actually have different effects. I trust their expertise, not because of the 'biology' part, but because of the 'grad student'.
@TCama: Surprisingly, tequila has been responsible for some of my least irresponsible nights. So far...
@MostlyHarmless: haha that was my favorite one in a while. So good.
@mac-phisto: I'm afraid of spiders myself, but whenever I find an orb spider around the farm, I catch grasshoppers and throw them into the web. from a distance.
@Kimaroo - 20% More Kitty Added!: Oh and only Black Berry Curve 8900 and 8320 have WiFi.. apparently there are also non WiFi Curves.
@chipslave: Did you get it figured out? I'm relatively new to the BB admin world so I'm sort of curious what it might have been.
@Laura Northrup: gahh, our CSA (and pretty much everyone else) got hit - we got a whole 2 tomatoes from them!
Miraculously, though, our side-garden potted tomato plants give us ripe ones about every two days now and aren't blighty ... yet.
Every day is a new cringe and a hope that I don't walk out there to find all the fat green 'matoes gone to s$!%.

I am much, much too excited that one of the tomatoes in my garden is approaching ripeness. It seems like every other tomato in New York was hit with a ferocious tomato fungus.
