What's the difference between a violin and a fiddle?

user-pic

@Smashville: You have to beat the Devil playing a golden fiddle.

user-pic

@Smashville: Nothing, although fiddlers sometimes use special bridges (the bit that holds up the strings) that are flatter, so they can more easily do double- and triple-stops (where you play two or three strings at once).

But it's the same instrument.

Why do I get the feeling after this morning deal, we will get horror stories of customer assistance operators playing actual violins when people call in to complain?

user-pic

I challenge you to a DUEL... Core...

user-pic

@Eyebrows McGee (now with more baby!): I'm from Nashville and I never knew. I was like...what's the difference between Boyd Tinsley's instrument and Charlie Daniel's instrument. And yes, I realize that can be a double entendre.

user-pic

@Smashville: I know violinists and fiddlers like different qualities in their instruments, a different sound, so you might have some violins that make better violins and some that make better fiddles, but I don't think that matters until you're buying really expensive ones.

I'm a bassist, it's different for us. :D

user-pic

@AHemp: Now I've got "Duel of the Fates" running through my head.

user-pic

I totally read that as a Florea Rectal II violin.

Wow @ the Sharp TV offer. I thought Toshiba had the cheapest LED (LCD with LED backlighting) TVs out there.

If I may be able to suggest another deal, the Panasonic TC-P42X1 is now available for $529 from Dell Home. These have been getting some pretty good reviews and a 42 inch TV for $530 is a pretty good price.

user-pic

@justbychance: I get a price of $650 from Dell...is there a coupon code you're using?

user-pic

Just what I DON'T want - a DUEL core system. Windows is bad enough, I don't think I can handle a computer with cores that fight each other!

user-pic

For a moment I was quite concerned about the suggestion of a "Rectal Violin"
