KFC Has A Bacon Sandwich That Uses Fried Chicken As "Bread"
This is perhaps man's greatest achievement or evidence of our civilization's impending doom. Maybe it's both.
Meet the KFC "double down." Although no mention of it is made on KFC.com and we have never seen an ad for it ourselves, we are being lead to believe that it is real by Foodgeekery.com. They have crappy cell phone camera footage of a commercial (from Omaha, apparently) for the mysterious beast, as well as photographic evidence of it in the wild.
The sandwich consists of two fried chicken fillets wrapped around bacon, cheese and Colonel's sauce. It apparently tastes like you think it would. An early-adopter explains:
That's it? That is the sandwich? That's not worth five dollars. Oh… oh my God. That is the best thing ever. I don't know what "Colonel's Sauce" is, but it is like a party in my mouth. This is completely worth the five dollars. Unfortunately I'm going to end up weighing 700 lbs after this, but it is simply amazing.
Have you eaten it?

...as would Paul Prudhomme, Louis Anderson, and other fat people. Or at the very least...people who really wanted to be fat people.
...does it come with arterial stents, or is that extra? X|
If the breasts were not breaded, at least it'd be low carb. KFC couldn't even get that right.
Still, I'd probably try one if my area had a convenient KFC around. For the same reason I tried a deep friend burger from Joe's Gizzard City. Just to say I did.
@computerwiz3491: It may have less carbs but probably way more calories and fat. Oh... and deliciousness.
@RecordStoreToughGuy_Has$240WorthOfPuddin': Most of them can’t anyway. That won’t stop them from trying, though.
@Mobius: What I meant was that nobody would think twice if KFC introduced a sandwich with two pieces of chicken, bacon, and cheese.
@computerwiz3491: As a low-carber myself (diabetic and holding normal blood sugar w/o meds) I can tell you that if the fillets are breaded, it is not a low-carb meal. Lower than bread, yes. But Chick-Fil-A and some others have sugar in their breading. And who knows what's in the sauce.
@Scrutinizer: It's not suitable for low-carbing if the chicken is breaded, and who knows about the sauce.
@ceez: Because they know that there are people who will eat this just to spite people who think this is disgusting.
@CompyPaq: er...no. Carbs are bad if you're trying to lose weight, but if you're worried about health, stuff like saturated and unsaturated fats and lots of salt are bad. Also, meat contains calories too, just like bread. Carbohydrates aren't the best thing ever, but they aren't intrinsically unhealthy, unlike something fatty that's been fried in oil.
@XianZomby: That's a good point. As far as the components go, it's not really any different from a regular non-sandwich entree that might be served on a plate. The only difference is that it's shaped like a sandwich and presumably you're supposed to eat it with your hands.
@GitEmSteveDave:WalkinOnSunshine: It looks like it has a paper sleeve in the top picture, not unlike those huge hamburgers & chicken sandwiches at Red Robin.
@MostlyHarmless: I'd do that.
While this "sandwich" doesn't actually sound all that appealing to me, I'd totally eat one right in front of any number of people who've made free to lecture me about "teh eeeeevil fat" over the years. Starting with my old boss, the one who smoked her lunch daily and whined about getting "So fat!" after going from a size 0 to a size 3.
@NoWireHangers: Hahahaha seriously. The real world keeps on kicking The Onion in the nuts.
Apparently it does the same thing to Doonesbury.
@Eyebrows McGee (now with more baby!): I think cordon bleu is also covered in bread crumbs and roasted as opposed to dipped in breading and deep fried.
@Jabberkaty: I can assure you it is. I live in Omaha and have seen ads for this, although I haven't heard it called the double down, just the KFC Chicken Sandwich IIRC. Haven't had one yet though. Quite frankly, I'm scared of how my body will react to the potential extreme delciousness that may ensue.
I really do love the whole "this is why america is fat" mentality.
I weigh 160Lbs. and eat like a 300-400Lb.man. Difference is, I exercize to offset my eating habits, and to keep my heart and lungs in better shape. Of all of my overweight friends, NOT ONE is serious about exercize or keeping in shape.
Wake up people. It's not just what is being eaten. It's the inherent laziness of too many people.
Oh, and for the record.. This weekend, I will fry up some chicken filets, add some cheese and bacon, and a home made honey mustard sauce. $5...HAH!!! I'll make a better one for $4. Thanks for the idea KFC.

That is the most disgusting and amazing thing I've ever seen. You can bet that it's going to become a hipster trend to eat "double down" sandwiches ironically.
