Chipotle's so-popular-they-had-to-discontinue-it iPhone app has been redesigned and is available for free at the iTunes store. What does this miracle software do? Well, it locates the nearest Chipotle, then lets you build your burrito, taco, whatever, add special instructions, and pay for your order. You can also save your favorites so you don't have to build the burrito each time. Fatness, here we come. [Gizmodo]

Two food articles in a row... must be lunchtime. Now I want burritos! Thanks, Consumerist.

awesome!
(and are we on speaking terms with gawker again?)

Looking at all the iPhone apps on consumerist and gizmodo, I can now say with 100% assurance, that not having an iPhone itself is saving me a LOT of money. And calories.

user-pic

I'm downloading this right now! As far as fast food Mexican goes, Chipotle rocks. Two meals in one burrito bowl, and I love, love, love their rice.

user-pic

I refuse to eat at Chipotlé until they serve food wrapped in meat like KFC.
Mmmmmm..... Barbacoa burrito wrapped in ham.

user-pic

@Quake 'n' Shake: A former coworker of mine regularly ordered a burrito so full of stuff that they had to wrap a second tortilla around the outside to contain the meat that would break out of the bottom. So technically, the second tortilla was wrapped in a layer of delicious, delicious steak.

Is anyone trying to download this via the App store right now? I'm just seeing "waiting" under the app, but I'm not sure whether it's because a ton of people are downloading it, or whether it's because I hit "update" on my Redbox Lite app and I guess I can't load two things at once.

user-pic

How's about a Consumerist iPhone app? :)

user-pic

@pecan 3.14159265: Ah yes, the cilantro rice is bomb.

I always go easy on the meat, and more on the rice.

user-pic

@pecan 3.14159265: That is making me hungry. How can someone be completely full, and yet feel very very hungry?

user-pic

@pecan 3.14159265: Heh, reminds me of the best burrito I ever had there. The first tortilla they tried to wrap it in broke and all the contents fell out. So they dumped all that goodness, all nicely mixed together, in a new tortilla.

Wow. Taste explosion!

Ever since then, I have always wondered if I can ask them to mix it up before wrapping the tortilla.

user-pic

Oh no. I already eat at Chipotle enough...

user-pic

@MostlyHarmless: I don't know, but I'm there too. I actually even put together my regular order on the app, but didn't actually add it to my "bag" - mostly because the location near me right now isn't the one I set as my default. But now I really want Chipotle for dinner!

user-pic

@dohtem: Yep! I've seen people ask. They just take one of the gazillion plastic forks there, mix it up, then throw out the fork.

user-pic

my burrito belly can't handle this food anymore. way too much sodium and too many trips to the can. something has been off with the food at my local chipotles all summer. had to quit.

user-pic

@pecan 3.14159265: Oh. My. God.

I have found a reason to keep living.

user-pic

@Quake 'n' Shake: If you pound out steak really thin and then wrap the goodness in it, then tie it off with butchers twine you may have the meataritto.

user-pic

I hear all these good things about Chipotle...yet...none in Nashville.

user-pic

I wish California Tortilla would come out with an app...but then that would mean I need to get an iPhone, and AT&T.

user-pic

What about sharing the Mobile OS Love? Android, WinMo, Palm and Blackberry users want burritos too!
Or make a mobile-friendly web-based system and save the trouble of coding for everyone.

user-pic

You can already do this via the Chipotle website. In fact, I did it yesterday!

user-pic

@alanjstr: I've ordered online a few times, but an iPhone app is fantastic because now I can be on my way home and order from my phone instead of having to get in line for it.

user-pic

Yessss. They included the one and only Canadian location. That never happens.

user-pic

Does the app also provide calorie/carbs/fat totals?

user-pic

@vq35de: Leave here and take your radical ideas with you!!

user-pic

@pecan 3.14159265: I haven't yet tried this recipe myself, but supposedly it is pretty close to the Chipotle cilantro lime rice: [macaroniandcheesecake.blogspot.com]

user-pic

For the less tech savy, the majority of Chipotle's take fax orders too. (No servitude to the evil empire that is AT&T.) You just have to pay when you pick it up. Wish Tin Star, and a host of other good Mexican eateries did the same.

user-pic

Oh man, Chipotle burrito bowls ROCK. When we got Chipotle I ate so much of it that a) I can't eat it for a while now and b) now I have to do Pilates four times a week to get rid of it.

user-pic

I like Chipotle but what's up with the inconsistant flavor of their gaucamole? Sometimes it's great and other times it takes like nothing but a green pepper. WTF?

user-pic

@halo969: It has to do with the mixing I think. I've had guacamole that was pretty much some mashed pieces and then a few huge whole pieces. It doesn't always get mixed perfectly.

user-pic

I love Chipotle's chips. They are bomb. There isn't one near by, about 15 min drive but we always seem to be going there.

user-pic

@Chumas: I like it! And "Meataritto" shall become my new fantasy football team name as well!

user-pic

@HogwartsAlum: Chipotle even encourages good behavior. Amazing!

user-pic

I just used this app yesterday. I have it on my ipod touch, as I don't have a iphone. Works perfectly and the food was awesome, as always.

user-pic

You mean I have to spend a few hundred dollars to buy an iPhone and get AT&T as my service provider just to order from Chipotle? Hell, I'll make my burritos at home.

user-pic

@H3ion: Yeah because you can't order from Chipotle any other way.

user-pic

They are hands down the worst "mexican" food I've ever had. And that includes restaurants in Tokyo. I don't understand how people can eat that swill!

user-pic

@alanjstr:
Also, the website ordering is a pain to navigate on the iPhone.
