Splurge Of The Day: $7,500 Shirt On "Sale" At Ted Baker

10469 views

James Bond-outfitter Ted Baker has a 50% sale going on right now. And at these 'sale' prices you'd pretty much have to steal from an international criminal to afford this one...

(Though we're tempted to buy it just to find out what in the name of Jehosovah they mean by "concealed Pashion embroidery".)

(Thanks to Matt!)

can't wait for the shirt to show up on some banker at a future congressional hearing.

That's nothing. The shirt I'm wearing right now is made out of solid gold and princess farts and was made by Queen Elizabeth II herself. It's worth 800 quadrillion dollars.

No, really. £4563? Isn't that like $200,000? You could buy a house for that.

user-pic

Levengers used to sell a $14,000 pen. I got to see it once. Looked kinda like my $30 fountain pen.

user-pic

@Ronin-Democrat: Asking for bail out funds. If only they brought their soild gold commode to sit on as well.

user-pic

@KStrike155: Umm, No. £4563 = $7,500 (approx)

user-pic

made in the same Pakistani sweat shops as a £10 shirt.

user-pic

That's a brilliant idea. If I made one shirt a day for twelve days, then sold them at 5k each, and made it my goal to sell one a month, I could make 60k/year.... ::dreams::

user-pic

@tailstoo: probably was the same pen, just rebranded. i couldn't buy an expensive pen, i lose them too much..... i think i'd kill myself if i lost that $14,000 pen.

user-pic

@tailstoo: Probably writes about as well as the Bic pens I've been stealing from work.

user-pic

I was going to buy it, but Chase just increased my interest rate... Oh Well..

user-pic

@ConroyCotta: Apparently jokes are not your strong suit. It's a joke referencing the fact that the British Pound is very strong against the US Dollar. Sheesh.

user-pic

For that much money, it really should be a more attractive shirt.

user-pic

For $7,500 I expect the thing to be made out of light weight breathable bullet deflecting Kevlar and wearing it will get you into bed with the person of you choice (gender varies on preference of shirt wearer).

user-pic

@tailstoo: Hell, 30 bucks for a pen is too pricey for me. I can't imagine needing a pen so badly I'd pay 14 grand for it.

user-pic

@I Love New Jersey: Also it automatically changes colors to compliment any room it is in.

user-pic

@Allison Granados: I actually heard about a sales trick. You buy a 70 dollar pen and when you lose it you buy another 70 dollar pen and you'll always ask for that pen back.

user-pic

I feel bad when I pay more than 20 dollars for a shirt. Most of my shirts are bought in 3 packs at target.

user-pic

[Flame Alert]

And at these 'sale' prices you'd pretty much have to steal from an international criminal to afford them...

... Or be a Vice Presidential candidate with [insert insults/insinuations/praise/indifference here]

user-pic

@KStrike155:

Except it isn't! The pound has horribly crashed versus most other currencies, because their financial manipulation was as bad - it not worse - than ours.

user-pic

Hahahahahahahahaha! I bought this gorgeous dress at AJ-Wright last night for - wait for it - 17 bucks.

I'm gonna go buy a 10 dollar pair of pants there tonight!

I love America!

user-pic

@katstermonster: I got a fancy pen once as a gift and boy howdy does that thing write nice ... feels good to hold, really well-balanced, writes really smooth, etc.

But, yeah, I'm a 10-cent-Bic girl myself. I love my super-pen, but not so much I'd ever buy myself one when the ballpoints the credit union gives out free write fine.

user-pic

@Unsolicited Advice: It's still around 1.6 pounds per dollar though. Much better than 2-for-1 when I lived there, though.

user-pic

@KStrike155: OK well then I guess jokes aren't MY strong suit. Man, tough crowd.

user-pic

@KStrike155:

Currency always brings out the crazies.

user-pic

stupid stupid ted baker

user-pic

I was expecting something more along these lines

user-pic

@sonneillon: They sell dress shirts in 3 packs at Target? (Disclaimer: I am not male.)

user-pic

Clearly, it's just a typo as their most expensive suits are selling for £350. I'm just surprised that they haven't caught it yet.

Although, they could be hoping that they get that one gullible person who will buy it.

user-pic

I just checked the link and the Selfer shirt is 45, marked down from 90. (Where the heck is the pound sign?)

user-pic

At that price, you could at least slap three wolves on the shirt.

user-pic

@KStrike155:

I'll wait until we get some parity going on here.

I've always wondered what it feels like to be a Canadian.

user-pic

Wait. Is $7500 the original price or the half off price? If this shirt is only $3750, I don't see the issue.

user-pic

@I Love New Jersey:

Actually, you CAN buy shirts, jackets and the like that are bullet-proof, but look like normal clothing.. Prices are in the "thousands" of dollars for each article of clothing.

user-pic

@Allison Granados: I thought about getting a Mont Blanc pen. Then I remembered how many of my pens get pilfered or lost every year. I will stick to the drafting pens I have piles of. They only cost about $3.

user-pic

@Etoiles: It contains pheramones and the smell of clean baby so it will still get you laid. the only problem is they kill babies for the scent, that's why they cost so much.

user-pic

@Nigromancer: Yes, it seems to have been fixed now (as mrscoach also noticed). But I wouldn't put it past some retailer, somewhere to try to sell a shirt for an insane price just because they can--and because someone with more money than sense will buy it for the cachet (cf. the "I Am Rich" iPhone app).

user-pic

@bohemian: It's amazing how keep track of your expensive pens a lot better than those which are virtually dispensible...

user-pic

@Parapraxis: Sorry... I can't hear you over the roar of my FREE HEALTH CARE. ;)

user-pic

@lilyHaze: To be fair dress shirts usually are in 1s or 2s. But they are almost always less than 20 bucks each. It's good to be a guy shopping for cloths.

user-pic

The shirt is showing up as only £45 now. That must have been a glitch before.
