Buy A Car, Get A Free AK-47
Want a new car, but also want an AK-47? Head to Max Motors in Butler, Missouri, where with any new car purchase you'll receive a voucher good for $450 to spend at a local gun shop. It doesn't have to be an AK-47, but you don't have to be a red-blooded man either, you big city sissy.
The logo at Mark Muller's dealership is... an old west caricature pointing two pistols at those who pass by. He said it's a nod to what he calls "big city" ways. "We really are different than the big city dealers."

This is a pretty good idea. Anyone can run an incentive, substituting the AK-47 for a washer, microwave, Xbox, TV, or whatever -- and get absolutely no attention whatsoever. I bet he's also got an arrangement to buy those $450 vouchers for much less than $450, since the gun store is going to get a ton of business from this too.
@Smashville: In Texas most of us already have enough guns, so we'd rather take the $450 off the price of the vehicle.
@Smashville: So weird, I was in Freeman MO like 2 weeks ago visiting relatives for 4th of July. Hick-tastic.
As long as they pass the licensing/permit requirements & federal back ground check, why not? If someone wants to exercise their right to own and use a firearm, possibly for protection, maybe for sport, maybe to provide for themselves/their family, then as long as they meet the requirements of the law, why not. If they're buying a car, I think they have enough money to purchase a gun anyway.
I think the story of why someone was turned down for a gun license/permit, possibly because they complained to the dealership and/or identity theft will make for an excellent story!
@Wuhao: Exactly right. These guys are just giving their customers what they want. There is nothing even remotely illegal going on.
Oh man I live close enough to Butler to go see that dealership... it's strange having a story so close to home. Either way I think the whole thing is amusing. The dealer isn't giving away these vouchers because everyone here is a gun crazed psycho. It's free advertising. All this buzz is going to sell cars. Oh and Missouri has some of the least restrictive gun laws in the US.
@lannister80: Everything east of KC and west of the Lou is hick-tastic in Missoura. A coworker's wife asked me if I was "some queer," to my face none-the-less, when I told her I wasn't married.
@albear: Hey I know you're joking -- no problem with that. But are you implying that Max Motors is doing something wrong here? Just curious.
@Rhayader: Better yet, they're probably bulk packed, so the dealership took the time with the gunshop and planned this promotion out. Once they got the bulk order in, whamo.
Ammo, being as the price it is, will make the gunshop money. The dealership is getting cars off the lot for a promotion.
They both probably subsidized the purchase for less than retail.
And folks get a gun + car for monies spent.
Great idea really.
@H3ion: Personally, I am waiting for the roof-mounted remote-controlled ray guy that neutralizes rubber-neckers and other traffic-slowing drivers & their vehicles ('cause people don't cause delays, it's their vehicles).
Actually you can. The Romanian made ones tend to go for between $300-$450. Gun shops tend to be more expensive though, you should pick one up online and have it shipped to a FLL.
1. these are semi-auto rifles, you can not go out and buy a full auto rifle w/o BAFT (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms) approval, which includes a $200 tax stamp, intensive background check, a sign off of a chief local law enforcement officer, and fingerprinting. Current time for that to process, 90-115 days.
2. A fully auto rifle is going to run over $10,000.00 because of the 1986 freeze on production of full auto for sale to civilians.
3. All new rifles that are sold in the USA have to be over 50% USA manufactured parts, be it an AK-47 or an AR-15.
4. The term "assault rifle" is utter bullshit, the man who is a hunter probably has a semi auto rifle, unless he hunts with only a pump shotgun or bolt action rifle.
this is a .22 rifle

This is the same gun as a killer hide the kids ASSAULT RIFLE!!!

Same gun, same action, same .22 rimfire caliber.
@j-o-h-n: that's what i was thinking. this dealership better have REALLLLLY good service to give away free AK-47s. Last thing I want to do is piss off the guy that just bought a shitty car and got a free AK-47 out of the deal.
@InThrees:
Hmm interesting. So apparently police are around to just fill the coffers of the local government. Although I am sure they are still a good crime deterrent. I don't think I'd depend on them 100% though.
@BoardShortin'_GitEmSteveDave: What I find ironic about this is that you need a state issued license to drive the car you purchase just like you'd need a license for the gun you purchase. You are also far more likely to kill someone with the car than with the firearm.

Now you can use your pickup truck to go after that scwewy wabbit! huh huh huh
