Ship Metal Hardware To Your House For Only $99,999
Wesley ordered some zinc-plated drawer slides from Gliderite.com. The hardware cost $25, and the shipping charge was $99,999. Either this is a database error, or Gliderite sends a Bentley full of spokesmodels to hand-deliver everything they sell.

For kicks, I went through. I screencapped that sucker, and sure enough, it's still wanting a nice hundred thousand to give me the same item.
@coren:
It's the depleted ultronium core, you see. It's mass is five hundred times as great as lead. Makes it a real pain to ship.
@Jeff_McAwes0me: Could I borrow your Space Shuttle sometime? Mine costs about $59,900,000 more to launch than yours.
I'd bet that the database is set up to calculate a shipping charge only if you enter your zip code correctly and it recognizes the code. If it doesn't recognize the code of ir you don't enter one, it's probably designed to output $99,999. Which is sort of silly, but probably better than underestimating shipping and then having to charge more later.
@Grodoro: Your Space Shuttle is a bargain compared to NASA at $450 million per mission.

Of course a satellite launch on an expendable rocket are less at $50 million and up depending on payload weight and who's launching it.
Regardless $99,999.00 isn't an "astronomic" amount for shipping.
It costs about $10,000 per pound to get the shuttle into space.
Each shuttle costs about $450 million to launch.

Well I guess since they couldn't sell on ebay anymore they had to find someplace to run that old scam...
