@Radi0logy: Does it matter?
From the product description:
Get door-to-door navigation and update your system with new maps and free base software upgrades through TomTom Home online.
@FightOnTrojans: The new maps could cost more than the entire GPS system..
Atleast I know for Garmin they cost about 80 dollars for a "one time" map download, and about 100 for a "life time" subscription to the maps.. but that only applies to the specific GPS you have now.. if you upgrade hardware down the road you'll have to pay the map fee again.
I focus on this because my Garmin GPS keeps reminding me that my maps are old.. and I haven't decided if it is worth it to pay the fee, or just upgrade my hardware all together.
@LastVigilante: Oh, I thought your were trying to insinuate I would go blind for making baby Jesus cry.
@Kimaroo: IIRC, if you buy a new unit, you get the maps for that year free, no matter when the maps on the unit are from. So if it's an older unit that you get on Clearance, you get the maps from the year you purchased it.
@NerdBurger_GitEmSteveDave: Ahh.. good to know..
Makes it even more of a possibility to find a good deal on a new Garmin and just update that way.
Still thinking about it though.. I haven't gotten too terribly lost yet.. but Houston is making new roads every 30 seconds, or so it seems.. so I dunno.
