Mark my words: There will be shortages.

user-pic

Nah. Maybe at AT&T stores, but really there will be plenty of iPhones 3G S for all.

This is all a part of the act. It's same routine for every significant Apple launch.

I placed an order via the AT&T site on 6/11, as of today it is still listed as "pending, waiting processing" ... I'm not hopeful that it will be on my doorstep tomorrow, which is what they claimed.

@dragonfire81: I remember when the 1st gen iPhones launched, what kind of crazy shortages there were. It was absolutely unsane the trampling, crazy eBay prices...

I kid, of course. Any shortages here will be manufactured.

@emis:
Don't you mean "you ARE hopeful, but skeptical"?

Good old apple. If the device isn't scarce and hard to get, make it scarce and hard to get. You have to admit they are good at inventing demand.

user-pic

@Corporate_guy: Well...I would say they are the best at creating demand.

I ordered mine on 6/14 when they were still claiming they could meet the street date on pre-orders. Checking their site it still hasn't shipped at a standard "COB" time, which leads me to think that I won't be seeing mine on the actual street date.

Ah, good old AT&T, screwing you starting on day 1.

@DashTheHand: I ordered mine through Apple for that exact reason. However mine's been sitting in Alaska for the last 24 hours according to my tracking information. I'm hoping it's just delayed data.

user-pic

Mine, too! It went from China to Hong Kong to Alaska.

@Shadowfire: I have faith that people will see how much of a non-upgrade this is...

Ah who am I kidding, this is gonna sell like hotcakes.

@LegoMan322: Either way, if you want the damn phone walk into an AT&T store and buy it without lines and without hippies surrounding you.

@diesel54: Yhea thats normal, its actually procesing through customs if you are curious.
