Don’t take this the wrong way, but has anyone ever paid shipping on a magazine subscription?
@World’sFastest_GitEmSteveDave: I always thought the entire cost of the subscription was due to shipping. So you mean I’m actually paying for the content of Maxim??
@World’sFastest_GitEmSteveDave: Agreed, “with free shipping” is stupid for a magazine. I’ve removed it.
@Chris Walters: Well, it’s not stupid for Amazon. I would not put it past them TO charge shipping on a magazine subscription. In fact, it wouldn’t surprise me if they offered two day shipping if you have a Prime account.
@kevjohn: I get my subs on eBay. Paid 2.99 for four years of Maxim and MacAddict.
@World’sFastest_GitEmSteveDave: I’ve actually received direct mail pieces that offer a magazine for $X, and then note a shipping and handling charge. These pieces get shoved into the recycling box with extra force.
@larrymac: That’s ponderous.
the shipping is not free on the rock band bundle if you use that coupon
@muddymaesuggins: Ah but if you also use the code SAVER you can get free shipping and the discount. I just bought a copy this morning for $85 + tax.
What I really want to buy is one of these fancy warehouses gamestop uses to magically produce video game overstocks.
@Raekwon: not for me. this is what it says when i try to do that.
The coupon entered will not provide a discount based on the current contents of your shopping cart. You may continue checkout without a discount or read the coupon description below and make the appropriate changes to your shopping cart or shipping method selected. Coupon description :
Coupon:SAVER – Free Value Shipping on your order. Minimum cart value must be $25.00Coupon:CAG16 – 16% off all in-stock used games.
For all the Browncoats out there: Amazon’s Gold Box deal of the day is Firefly the Complete Series on Blu-Ray. (Gave me an excuse to finally upgrade from the DVD version.)
The coupon code isn’t working on those gamestop deals.
@HeyApples: That’s because the coupon code is for used games only, someone dropped the ball here.
@HeyApples: Looks like they disabled it. It worked a few hours ago when I bought it. Reading the discount it gives it looks like it was never meant to work like this. I guess a bunch of people got lucky before they disabled it.
@Raekwon: Even without the code, the total price including taxes is only $15 more (for RB2 on 360)
Are magazine subscriptions through Amazon reputable, does anyone know? I’d be interested in that Popular Science subscription but this note at the bottom
makes me wonder what the extend of that is. They say they won’t share credit card info but has anyone else had any experience with subscriptions through Amazon?
@ajlei: If you ever read the december issue of a magazine, there is usually this disclosure they have to include about their subscription numbers. I’m guessing this means that either the magazine you subscribe to uses a company to get those numbers and they ask the vendors, or the agency they are filing this disclosure with may use a similar company to verify the magazine figures.
