"Without A Trace," Other Shows, Gone Without A Trace
Some bad news if you love the show Without a Trace. Not only do you have poor taste in entertainment, but there will be a gaping hole in your life come September when your drama, which has given up the ghost, will only be viewable via seance like other departed shows such as Alf, Cop Rock, and Grounded for Life.
The L.A. Times' Showtracker blog says the show is toast, as are The Unit and The Eleventh Hour, which the blog claims are indeed genuine TV programs, even though no one-including their own writers and actors-has ever heard of them.
The blog also outlines the fates for other CBS series:
In addition to word that CBS may pick up a new season of "Medium" — NBC canceled it; producers were not thrilled — sources say the network will also renew "Cold Case," "Numb3rs," "Gary Unmarried," "Rules of Engagement" and "The New Adventures of Old Christine."
They join previously renewed scripted series "The Big Bang Theory" and "Two and a Half Men." "How I Met Your Mother" also has been renewed.
At least CBS isn't moving Letterman to prime time.

@PittDragon: For some reason, TIVO thought I would like this show and started recording it for me. Obviously, my TIVO has an evil agenda and wants to see me suffer.
@Trai_Dep: Yeah, that seemed like a really ill-timed decision, considering the sure smash hit that is Terminator:Salvation is being released tomorrow.
@PittDragon: Not only is it still on, but I remember reading it was the top rated sitcom for a good while. I guess one unpleasantly dorky guy + one unpleasantly horny guy + one unpleasantly precocious kid = success.
@PittDragon: I've watched entirely too much of that show (one of those "Turn the TV on and then work with it on in the background for hours" sorts of things) and I have no idea why it is such a popular show. Every episode is the same joke. Sometimes it is fleetingly funny, like the first few minutes of an SNL skit, but then it just keeps going and beating the joke into the ground.
@Bearded Rapper: Ratings have a lot to do with it. Apparently Without a Trace just wasn't getting the same numbers that Two and a Half Men was getting.
@morganlh85: Does your TV not come equipped with a mechanism to change channels? You can also make use of the "power" button to make any show you don't care for go away.
@Trai_Dep: Hey, if it had to come down to that or Dollhouse, I'm glad Dollhouse stayed. No matter how much trash people talk about it.
(Maybe Joss Whedon can pull Summer Glau over to Dollhouse as one of the dolls next season!)
@KP1973:
So instead of just moving on, you went through the effort of reading the article, then posting about it. That goes double for MaxSmart32. Morons!
@KP1973: Exactly right. I get enough updates from this site without filling it with TV news.
Consumerist, you are no longer on my RSS feed.
@bengarland: Poor spelling and poor taste don't correlate with each other. Now, if Phil had been criticizing the networks on their misspellings, we'd have an issue.
@Chris Walters: I don't get why it had to be one or the other. Does Fox have a rule against having more than one sci-fi show on at a time?
I can see how they might decide they need a new doll if they're not going to use Victor any more.
@DrGirlfriend: I don't think they are terrible. They have NCIS, The Mentalist (a great show), The Big Bang Theory...
@KP1973: Can people stop making these comments? This is the 4th or 5th such comment in two days. It's against the comment code. Such comments are useless. Use your scrollbar if you don't like a particular post.
@KP1973: I totally fail to see the consumer issue here.
I would say it's a sad attempt to get more add views but you don't even have those anymore so WTF?
@PittDragon: At least the dude who created it made up for it with The Big Bang Theory which never fails to crack me up.
@Crim Law Geek: Wow. "Without A Trace" fans can be so touchy.
I too don't understand why this article is posted here. I read the whole post expecting to find the "Consumerist" slant, but I didn't see any. Anyone care help out a "moron" and fill me in on what I missing here?
Do you pay for and consume cable? Well, there's been some changes to the line-up.
There ya go.
@gyroball: I don't know - it doesn't seem like that's what they're doing here, they're canceling a long running show and potentially picking up another, and aren't canceling a whole lot of other stuff that I can see

I didn't think Without a Trace was that bad a show...
