Never Get A Chase Over-The-Limit Fee Again
Stop the presses! You know how most banks are glad to let you charge more than your credit limit and then charge you fees for the "courtesy?" CreditMattersBlog reports it turns out Chase will let you block these "over-the-limit" purchases. You just gotta call and ask for it, 1-800-432-3117. If you're a Chase credit card customer and sometimes find yourself going over your credit limit and incurring fees, putting an over-the-limit block on your account could be just the thing.

This should be a no brainer for them. Why would you want people (who are at their limit and possibly do not pay down their already large debut) to go over their limit? I understand they make money off of this, but if the companies do not get paid to begin with, why extent their credit?
But anyway, seems as if Big Corp wants to (or make it look like) they have some interests in their customers. That is a very nice improvement
@LegoMan322: or the poor economy is actually aligning corporate and consumer interests in this case - cc companies are looking for more ways to reduce their lending, and consumers charge too much. Enjoy it while it lasts.
@TurboWagon00: I checked my balance online, it was $6 over. Statement hadn't even come in yet. I made an early payment to bring account under limit even before I got the statment in the mail; They posted $39 on 5/19 and I paid on 5/20. Called them to remove fee- no can do. Asked to talk to manager - rep refused to transfer me, offered to close my account if I wish to do so. I wrote complaint to customer service, if no result, will write to BBB and FTC. I hate it when they let you overcharge. I've been watching my charges, but this time screwed up by 6 bucks!

Yeah, but then you're back to the credit dark ages, when you'd take your wife, your in-laws, the jerk-off neighbor with the new Porsche, your girlfriend, and your boss out to dinner (all at the same time) and you'd have your credit card get rejected because you're over your limit.
Oh, the embarrassment!
