Does anyone else see the irony that is the Sam's Club trial membership? It's to celebrate National Small Business Week.

If anyone is looking into a gunlock for home use, and you have children, if you haven't already, enroll them in a basic gun safety course approved by the NRA or other association. Even if you don't want your children handling guns, they should at least know how to properly/safely handle one should they ever come across one at someones house/the street, and avoid an accident. Gun safety courses are like vaccinnes for accidents as if one kid in a group knows what to do, it can save lives.

This has been a GitEmSteveDave Safety Tip For A Better Future.

@Papercutninja: To be fair, a lot of small businesses use warehouse clubs to do their shopping - a lot easier on the budget to buy in bulk.

@PartOfIMAXConspiracy_GitEmSteveDave: Very good advice for the masses. I picked up a few more locks at the local county sheriff's office, I know the local police stations usually stock them too.

Is that a *real* free one-day guest pass to Sam's Club? I've gotten those in the mail before, but when you read the fine print there's actually a 10% surcharge on your entire order for the privilege of using the "free" day-pass.

Total bullshit, in other words. It seems to me you'd end up spending even more money that way, since the discounts for shopping at club stores are usually pretty lame to begin with.

I followed the link and didn't see any fine print on this one, but still I don't trust it.

@morgasco: Do you know if these work on shotguns, as I plan to be in the market for one soon. Of course, I don't have any children. Yet.

@Shadowman615: It clearly states "with no upcharge"

That hard drive deal is good. The F1 series of drives reviews very well in regards to speed and being quiet. $75 for 1TB *shipped* is also not something to gawk at.

@PartOfIMAXConspiracy_GitEmSteveDave:

That there is some good advice. My son took a Hunter's Ed class before he could go hunting. Which is mandatory for children in Texas. The only down side is that he is all about weapons. I guess it doesn't help that I bought him a paintball gun for his b-day..

@PartOfIMAXConspiracy_GitEmSteveDave: I think it would depend on the shotgun. The lock travels down through the cartridge release through the magazine holder on a handgun... I guess it depends on where everything on the shotgun in question lines up.

@PartOfIMAXConspiracy_GitEmSteveDave:
Gun locks render a gun useless the one time your life depends on it working.

Whenever they give away free gun locks, I get the maximum they allow and throw them in a milk crate. When the crate gets full, I empty it out into the steel scrap bin at a local metal fabricator.

I bet I've personally taken over 500 of these dangerous devices off the streets.

@fatcop:

LOL

Best device I've seen for locking up pistols while keeping them relatively accessible is the GunVault. It basically is a small safe, but instead of having to fumble with keys or fumble with a dial, you press a combination of fingers. The door flips open and you're ready. it can be mounted anywhere as well. Under a shelf in the closet, in a nightstand drawer, or even under the bed. Remember, though, pistols are a tool to help you get to a bigger gun.

@Papercutninja:

I shop at Costco for a few things my hotel uses. For example, milk. Sysco, $12 for 2 gal. Costco, $6 for 2 gal. Comes from the same dairy farms too.

@fatcop: While I plan on using it if need be, I also have no problem if someone downstairs runs out of the house after hearing me rack it.
