If you mourned the closing of Mother's Cookies last October, new owner Kellogg has announced that the cookies are back on store shelves starting today.

Those little frosted animal cookies are delicious little devils.

And there was much rejoicing!!!

Thank God! I grew up on these cookies. I even saved a bag of the old Mother's Cookies circus animals so I can make sure the new guys got the recipe right (those things are so coated in frosting they never go stale).

I still have a bag of Cookie Parade. I wonder if Kellogg will bring back the other cookies, like Taffy and Iced Oatmeal?

My next grocery trip will include a visit to the cookie aisle!

I am going to buy my dad a celebratory bag of these. I knew a few things about my dad growing up - one was that he loved these cookies. And Jurassic Park.

Yay for Kellogg. :)

They have been available in L.A. for a while. Kelloggs bought the name & all the recipes, but the new ones are a bit different from the original. The cookie has a slight lemon flavor and a bit crisper. Still pretty good, probably about 90% the same as the original. I'm hoping they bring back Taffy & some others too.

Weird. Nabisco has been selling them for almost a month now. I bought some, they're pretty much identical.

@ArcanaJ: I think you're right - Nabisco, not Kellogg.

Gonna bite the heads off each and every animal, then pound a 'Dew. :)

@ArcanaJ: Kellogg bought the Mother's brand when it went out of business, although Nabisco sells a similar product.

I bought some a few weeks ago. I don't remember the brand, but pretty sure they weren't the Nabisco ones. They've probably been making them for a while, only just now have reached national distribution.

Yay!
I'm buffing up my insulin creating system by downing a 1/2 cup of raw sugar a day!

YAY!

I bet they won't taste the same, though.

Except Kellogg is a terrible company and no one should be buying their products.

Thank dog they're back! The currently available frosted animal cookies have so few sprinkles despite the pictures on the package. I know it's a recession, but sprinkles!? Have they no decency?

I found a few boxes of almost out-of-date Gauchos at Big Lots a few weeks after Mother's went out of business. Glad to see Kellogg's will be making them now :)
