Here's a list of cheap Mother's Day gift ideas, like decorating flip-flops with rhinestones (it's a deliberately cheap let-the-kids-help project), newsprint roses made by some girls club, and some sort of photo book through Facebook that's free for the first 10,000 orders. [ABC News]

The flip flops is a great idea! Especially for my girlie-girl sister. I will definitely keep that in mind next year for my nephews. I took them to Color Me Mine over the weekend to make something for my sister and my mom and buying all the pieces plus a sitting fee charge definitely added up. We had a blast, but I think a trip to Michael's could accomplish the same thing much more frugally.

YES! Yet another use for my hot glue gun. Is there nothing it can't do?

I made some homemade bath salts one year. It was cheap and a lot of fun without a ton of work. Plus you can decorate the jars any way you want, for an extra personal touch.

@Radi0logy: It can keep her from leaving though, if carefully applied to locks!

The people need to rise up against these Hallmark holidays and not participate in these exercises in spending. There is no need to give into the Greeting Card-Gift-Florist Complex anymore!
