Woohoo cheap ice cream! Tonight from 5 to 10pm at participating Baskin Robbins, small scoops of ice cream are 31 cents each plus tax (limit three scoops per person). Besides the publicity boost, the promo is an opportunity to get people to voluntarily donate money to the National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC) and the National Junior Firefighter Program. Thanks for the heads up but I have consumed so much ice cream in the last week, I'm gonna have to pass. :(
@dohtem: You jerk. Us impatient people have been unable to keep our ADD in check for the huge, block-sized lines outside our favorite ice cream eateries. I had to get a Frosty at Wendy's to satisfy the craving, but deep down, I knew it wasn't what I wanted :(
Darn tricks to get me to donate money to volunteers who save people's lives!
@jscott73: Yep, when I worked for BR this was by far the worst/busiest day.
By worst I mean, most painful. There are so many people that you have to help and have to scoop up ice cream for, by the end of the night your arm is numb and the next day your whole body is sore. Not fun at all.
Also, there are PLENTY of people who could come in at all hours of the day before 5pm asking for the special only to throw a fit when you told them the promotion started in 1 or more hours and any scoop they would get would be regular price.
And of course there were the slick ones who would order and when you gave them the regular price would be like, 'but the sign says 31cents!" which is the point that i would point out "well ma'am it also says starting at 5pm and it's not in fine print" usually they would leave or scream and cry. Sigh.
Adults are such children.
@idip: On a more positive note, it was cool seeing actual children getting ice cream!
I don't know about you guys but BR has gotten way expensive, i think a regular school 5oz, is like $2.50 here now, it's insane.
P.S. The scoops for tonight are 2.5oz so they will definitely look small!
@snowburnt: I donate to the American Red Cross yearly, and of course my company also does the United Way thing.
I HATE it when they try to force me to donate MORE money just because they want the department to have 100% donation.
I think that's just wrong. I mean, if I donate my own money on my own time, why do i have to do it for the company? I mean, I'll surely donate the companies money if they're handing it out.
They're still making a profit.
You can get a 1.5 quart container of ice cream at the store for $1.99 when it's on sale.
Think you could get more than six scoops from that? I think so. And then figure that Baskin Robbins buys in bulk, so they get it even cheaper.
But my mom and I went earlier. Good stuff. I had the cookie dough.
oh man, last time BR had this I ended up waiting for an hour for ice cream, I would have left but the kids were having fun and looking forward to ice cream
