Our comment reply feature is acting stupid again. We're aware of the glitch and have contacted our various extended warranty providers to see about getting it fixed. Thanks for your patience.

Are "We are taking it very seriously" jokes old yet?

This comment is to let you know the warranty on your feature maybe expiring soon. To continue your protection, please reply 1 to speak to a customer service representative.

Like before, it seems to work if you see the "profile" and "logout/login" links at the top right, and craps out when you don't see them.

user-pic

I don't understand why this keeps happening. I've never had this many problems with a blog/forum before.

user-pic

@nakedscience: Maybe if you put something in the tip jar?

user-pic

It also helps if you refresh the page. That usually works for me.

user-pic

@squinko: Refreshing the page only works if the refreshing causes the profile and logout/login links to come up on the top right. I think that's the case for most people.

user-pic

I'm sorry, your comment system is full of dust. You've obviously abused it and your warranty is void.

user-pic

Hey, I would check out Consumerist.com for tips about getting through customer service (maybe speaking to an actual person!). I bet it could really help get your problems worked out very quickly!

Best of Luck!

user-pic

Hah! The comment system's knees show too much wear and tear - no exchange or return for you.

user-pic

The Consumer Reports ads have started behaving strangely, too. There's one BEHIND the last two top stories to the right.

user-pic

I tried to reply to myself, but guess what?! Anyway, I think the CR ad is trying to hide, and is just looking for the right time to jump out and ambush me, probably asking for a donation in return for testing the Snuggie. That's incentive enough to... well, I'm not sure yet.

user-pic

@nakedscience: The last time this happened, it didn't work at all. Someone suggested visiting a Gawker site and then coming back, but that didn't work last time, or this time.

user-pic

@bluewyvern: I think there's also a piece of hair in it.

user-pic

Sabotaged by Gawker again. I guess they are pissed that this site is getting more popular without them.

user-pic

Pro tip: Test updates on a test server before pushing them out to the public.

user-pic

I tried commenting on Gizmodo yesterday. It didn't work. I suppose this is somehow related.

user-pic

Might just be me, but commenting on stories no longer shows up on my FB profile.

user-pic

@Kyle Mistry

Uh.

Scratch that.

I'm dumb.

user-pic

@nforcer: Yeah, that's broke a few times @ Giz for me too. They fixed it once, then it happened again and I took it personally, so I stopped going there altogether anymore.

user-pic

@ZukeZuke: Yeah, got my feelings all hurt and sh*t, like a girl...

user-pic

@squinko: Maybe if you smash the system with a hammer and put the video on Youtube you'll get a new one for free!

user-pic

@11hawkinst: I hear the lady who answers the emails at tips@consumerist.com is really nice!

user-pic

Fiiiiiix iiiiittt...

waaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhh...

Man, I REALLY look forward to commenting on this site every day. I have no life! :P ;)

user-pic

@bluewyvern: Stop letting Tax Cat sleep on your comment system. I don't care if it's warm; it's absolutely full of cat hair. The fan is totally clogged! Have you people never heard of a vacuum?

user-pic

I think the other shoe dropped for me. I'm at home now on a mac running Firefox 3.0.8 and I can't even get the profile and login/logout links to appear. I've refreshed a page about 10 times and nothing...do you guys get paid on visits? I've probably paid for 1/15th of a lab coat already if you get revenue for each refresh.

user-pic

I yearn for the day when Consumerist writes a story about something that went wrong for them. Like "Our commenting system was broken, we contacted our web hosts, they gave us bad service." Then they'll shut down your site from bad publicity. Or someone's donation gets screwed over and they complain to you and you have to post it. That'd be great.

user-pic

@dorianh49: I had a problem with replying for a couple of days the last time this happened and it was the CR ads that were the problem.

user-pic

what about replies?

user-pic

@WolfBaconFlavorMANGURT_GitEmSteveDave: or press 2 to pe placed on hold for 45 minutes then disconnected, so you can submit a story to the consumersit and have your complaint dealt with in a speedy manner.
thanks and have a nice day!

user-pic

@Rectilinear Propagation: iirc, the CR ads were to blame the first time as well - i adblock everything, so that might be whu it's working for me (and yes consumerist, i'll donate to you, i need a new laptop and a new job first!)
