@AutoTuneShouldBeACrime_GitEmSteveDave: So wait-buying recycled toilet paper wasn't a good idea then?
Seventh Generation products are good stuff. We use their surface cleaners (tub/tile, counter, mirror, etc.) exclusively. We initially switched because their stuff is mostly food-safe, and we have a cat who likes to lick the bathtub. Now that we're having a baby, it's even more important since ankle-biters are notorious for gnawing on everything in sight, including available surfaces.
But their cleaners work great. The one and only issue is if you have a really bad stain, you sometimes have to spray it, walk away for five minutes to let it soak, and then scrub. It's not necessarily instant on really bad stains.
@Eyebrows McGee (on Twitter: LPetelle): But you spend so much on it, when you could do much the same with white vinegar, dishsoap and occasionally bleach [which can be used to disinfect food areas too] for bad stains.
My favorite environmentally friendly cleaner: good old fashioned white vinegar. For really tough stains I use it at 100% strength; for everything else I dilute it down. Its cheap at about $2.50 a gallon for the store brand. I always get a laugh when Windex and other cleaners tout themselves as being "with vinegar" at a higher price. Three parts water to one part white vinegar makes a good substitute for about 62 cents a gallon; far cheaper than even the cheapest store brand cleaner. I bought a good quality spray bottle for about $2 at Wal-Mart that's held up pretty well.
@chiieddy: You don't have to spend a lot to get the product. Sale + coupons + stocking up = deals on a concentrated product that lasts.
And besides, I for one don't wash my clothes in a combo of vinegar and dishsoap.
@AutoTuneShouldBeACrime_GitEmSteveDave: I went for the free shipping, I hope this one works better than the weather station I ordered from Woot. That wireless monitor had a range of about 1 foot.
@bornonbord: Well, Colbert paper. Colbert is what I call my pooping stool, and the COLBERT is the treadmill, since it's an acronym, it all should be capitalized.
@Eyebrows McGee (on Twitter: LPetelle): I love Seventh Generation - I used to use their products to clean out all of my animal cages. Very safe stuff.
@Eyebrows McGee (on Twitter: LPetelle): We use Seventh Generation laundry detergent and it does a good job. I'm allergic to all of the mass market detergents. Even those without dyes or scents leave chemical residues which leach out when the clothes get wet again, like when sweating at the gym. (I learned that lesson the hard way.) Now that you get Seventh Gen at the supermarket and Target it's easier (and cheaper) than having to schelp to Whole Foods.
As for their dishwasher detergent, it's not very good at all. I gave up on it after a few loads and went back to Cascade.
@Eyebrows McGee (on Twitter: LPetelle):
I haven't tried these yet, but I wanted to. Don't they have a cleaner that works for mostly everything? I hate buying a bunch of different stuff.
I'm LOL'ing on the licky cat.

Unfortunately, this model has not been tested by Consumer Reports.
@chiieddy:
In my state retailers are required to give you the rebate at the point of sale, so I'm going to try this one. Better print out the state law first to bring with me!
@tiatrack: The link is still there. Make sure you wait till flash stops playing - "choose your samples" will appear on the right side
@runchadrun: Hmm, I found their diswasher detergent to work really well. Guess it depends on the water where you are.
@Eyebrows McGee (on Twitter: LPetelle): You know, if you could train both the cat and the kid to focus their lapping attention around the facet areas, you'll never have to worry about those hard-to-reach areas not sparkling again!
@fatcop: During lunch at work, instead of eating the cheese-free pizzas (cause cows fart, no joke, I hate the bay sometimes) in the cafe, I'm planning on driving out to the most out of the way Jack-In-The-Box using the most traffic laden path possible. Unfortunately I wasn't thinking and took the motorcycle today. To really top it off I should have brought the car and cranked up the A/C with the windows down.
@When'sUranusDay?_GitEmSteveDave: It's kind of Reynold's Wrap to solve the headgear needs of RedState and Freeper members, though.
@Hyman Decent: Hmmm. I ordered one right after I posted the above comment and I still haven't received a confirmation e-mail. I've ordered from Meritline before without problem, so maybe they're overwhelmed by the response to this offer.
@chiieddy: I do much of my cleaning with homemade stuff, but sometimes the commercial stuff is good. My husband is apparently blind to things like koolaid stains on the counter and once those set, they come up a lot easier with commercial product.
Also I'm now too pregnant to scrub because I can't get any leverage, lol.
Anyway, a single bottle lasts us ages and ages, so I don't mind the cost. Plus I get coupons. Plus there are sales.
@runchadrun: Yeah, I haven't had great luck with their dish detergent either ... I think dish detergent is picky about water hardness. We ran through a few brands until we found one that liked our water when we moved (Cascade, same as you).
@HogwartsAlum: It's called something like "tile and surface cleaner" or "counter and surface cleaner."
(And yeah. My cat is kind-of a dumb-ass.)
@Eyebrows McGee (on Twitter: LPetelle):
Seventh Generation is not the safe, green product their label paints themselves to be. If you critically review their ingredients you will often find carcinogens and suspected mutantagens like sodium laureth sulfate. Be an educated consumer, not a buyer of savvy marketing.
@Eyebrows McGee (on Twitter: LPetelle):
Cool, I'll look for that.
(She/he CAN'T be dumber than my cat.)
@Patches O'Houlihan: I do read the ingredients, thanks. One of the things I like about 7th Gen is their full disclosure of all ingredients.
(I also typically read the MSDS for home cleaning products.)

It's already too late for the free shopping tote from Earthbound Farm. (all 10,000 already claimed this week)
