Such hard decisions......

Next year make this thing a double elimination tournament. Ooooo, what fun.

On the serious side, the bracketing could use some work and since it would be really unfair to ask the editorial staff to seed the brackets based upon their personal bias (also unfair to the companies in terms of journalistic code of conduct) a random bracket with double elimination would solve the problems of early favorites (sarcasm) being knocked out of the competition before they can really generate a good head of steam.

For example, there are some companies (Peanut Corp of America comes to mind) who could go far in the competition if they weren't up against such a mighty suckout of suckinesss called AIG.

In an double elimination tournament, PCA might have a chance to rebound from loosing to AIG (in the current second round) to possibly heading into the finals as the underdog from the loser's bracket.

Custom-Bilt Metals is the worse company in America. They installed one defective metal shingle roof on my home, then replaced with another.

The vail shingle roof was manufactured incorrectly, but Custom-Bilt won't fix the problem. My roof is leaking and they do nothing.

I vote for BofA, especially after they announced new fees / fee hikes / benefits withdrawal effective June 5.

Alongside many people, I must protest AIG going up against the Peanut Corp. of America this early in the tourney. This kind of matchup is finals-worthy!!

Wal-Mart vs. Best Buy.

Clash of the titans, man!

user-pic

@Yoko Broke Up The Beatles: I don't see the match as a big deal. I don't view AIG as guilty as other people do.

@MooseOfReason:

They made terrible (if not outright criminal) investment decisions and then demanded that the taxpayers foot the bill because they're too big to fail (and, sadly, they've grown too large to be allowed to simply die a quick death).

Then they used that money to line their pockets, rather than actually getting their house in order.

Exactly how are they not guilty of screwing the consumer harder than most of the other companies here?

@MooseOfReason:

Most of what is worst about Walmart is to do with their overwhelming bigness and market power.

Best Buy doesn't really have that, but they suck in every way a company can suck within the niche they occupy.

If you look at them like Roger Ebert looks at movies...not taking their shittiness to be an absolute, but relative to the sort of company they are, Walmart comes out looking so much better than Best Buy.

thank god this is almost over. This is monumentally silly and boring.

Panera is the wost company in America because they spit on your food. On January 16, 2009 a Panera manager from East Meadow instructed a server, Erika, to SPIT on my tea in retaliation for taking a survey at Panera.com. What happened was that the employees behind the counter talked about breast feeding... their husbnads! while I was having breakfast. Since I was the only one at the moment, they quickly picked up on who took the survey. So, the manager instructed the employee Erika, to SPIT on my food. The reason I know the manager is behind the SPITTING of my tea is because I emailed the Panera.com customer service explaining Erika SPIT on my tea and asking them to do the right thing. However, when I returned to Panera, Erika, the Panera employee who SPAT on my tea was still there and the Panera manager sent her to wait on me again. As we all know from the Domino's Pizza incident, tampering with someone's food is a felony. I could've called the cops and filed for assault as well. However, Erika, the Panera woman who SPAT on my tea got the protection of the Panera manager because he was the one who authorized the SPITTING on my tea in retaliation for my complaint. This Panera is located at Hempstead Turnpike, East Meadow, New York in Nassau County.

@Yoko Broke Up The Beatles:

I agree, this is a matchup for later rounds.

I'm laying money on TicketMaster, AIG, and Comcast as heavy favorites.

I do not understand why Chase is not the bigger loser here.

Chase was a huge participant as an issuer of Liar Loans - see "JPMorgan Chase memo titled "Zippy Cheats & Tricks" - how to approve loans that should never have been approved:

- If all else fails, the document states, simply inflate the applicant's income. "Inch it up $500 to see if you can get the findings you want," the document says. "Do the same for assets."

GM had bad management - but did not do anything to ruin the US and Global Economy.

Chase was the first to offer Credit Default Swaps - and issued bad loans for profit.

Chase IS one of the Top Worst Companies of 2009 and all years.

Monsanto is the worst company in the US----no world look up Monsanto and how they have destroyed the farming in India or look up Monsanto vs Fox news in Florida as Monsanto continues to cover-up the dangers and toxicity of BGH

There really should be an also-ran tournament like the NIT in college basketball. With stunning new levels of mediocrity and incompetence out there, every bad company, no matter how big or small, should have a shot at becoming the WORSt COMPANy in AMERICa!

DOWn, baby, DOWn!

user-pic

@TechnoDestructo: Wal-Mart is big because people shop there and support them. What's wrong with a successful company so long as they aren't breaking the law?

Yeah, those Best Buy stories that reached the Digg front page were pretty bad, hehe.

I can't believe that Dell is not number one WCIA! Google "dell hell" I just did, 1,370,000 hits in .19 seconds, every one relating from half a dozen, to thousands of horror stories. I've been in it for two years. Actually, I guess I need to find the "Worst Company In The World" website (after all dell, notice I refuse to capitalize the d, is now an Indian company, so does not qualify for WCIA). Buyer, BEWARE, between dell and dell financial services(?) they will destroy your credit report your FICO (they brought mine down from 780 to 615 in four months!) and YOU. Google them up, you will agree, they take the prize hands down, unarguable. I hope this information will help keep someone else, hopefully anyone, or even better everyone else from entering that seventh Danti-esk Level of hell that IS dell hell. Again, Please, Please I beg you BEWARE, you are in danger! Bill

@QuintanaLebanon:

Unfortunately, while there are thousands of small companies who are, dollar for dollar and person for person, worse than any company in the contest, if they aren't fucking people on an industrial scale, they aren't going to stand a chance.
