What Do Deal Site Acronyms Like "YMMV" And "AC" Mean?
If you're new to hunting for deals online, you'll start seeing all these funky acronyms used as shorthand. Here's some of the most common ones and what they mean:
YMMV - Your Mileage May Vary. (Means the deal could just be specific to one store, a region, or the manager's whim)
BOGO - Buy one, get one free
S&H - Shipping and handling charge
FSH - Free shipping and handling
FS - Free shipping
B&M - Brick and Mortar (The physical store, usually used to mean the deal is in-store only)
AC - After Coupon (Price after coupon is applied)
AR - After Rebate (Price after rebate is received)
Price Mistake, Price Error - Posted price is a retailer error and it's likely orders will be canceled, but hey, dare to dream! (YMMV).
MIR - Mail-In Rebate
NIB - New In Box
BNIB - Brand New In Box
NWT - New With Tags
NOS - New Old Stock - stuff that was made a while back but has never been used.
OOS - Out of stock
OEM - "Original Equipment Manufacturer" - unit not originally intended for retail sale, may come without manuals, cables, instructions, or in a retail box.
B-Stock - Factory refurbished and tested

@mac-phisto:
I have two theories on that.
1.) High powered rifle and a tranquilizer dart
2.) Hammer, shot of tequilla, and a rubber chicken.
Not incredibly relevant, except for those househunting online:
BA - Bathroom (toilet+sink+tub/shower)
1/2 BA - Half-bathroom (toilet+sink)
BR - Bedroom
MBR - Master Bedroom (a bit bigger than normal BRs)
TLC - Tender Loving Care (budget for major repairs)
CHA - Central Heating and Air (ductwork is involved)
CA - Central Air
CWS - City Water & Sewer
CW - City Water (septic tank in use or required)
LR - Living Room
DR - Dining Room (usually separate from kitchen)
SR - Sunroom (either picture windows or large skylight)
@mac-phisto: Canned air works as well as a spritz bottle with no harm to the laptop. I've used it for training two cats, including staying off the keyboard.
@craigkay: I didn't know what these were either, so I googled them......I don't think that they apply here unless you have some consumer issue in Nevada.
@Raekwon: Be careful with "OEM" software and Operating Systems. The licensing restrictions will likely be different for OEM. For example, Windows XP OEM must be sold along with computer hardware and is only licensed to be used with one computer and cannot be transferred. Windows XP Retail can only be installed on one computer at a time, but can be transferred.
@Ayo: Am I the only one who's never ever seen this used (and has in fact seen another term for a refurb)?
@squinko: Whoa.
Until this day, I thought that people who used that acronym were advertising their preferred sexual role.
Though, it will make my internet browsing a bit less voyeuristically titillating. Damn.
@Customer_Service_Slave: Because the mental picture of a Wally is some overweight dude in a polyester shirt with thick glasses that are taped together who's outraged at being asked to show his receipt at the door, yet thinks simulated drowning is an "enhanced interrogation technique"?
That's my guess, anyway.
