Am I missing something on the refurb Ipods? Aren't $149 and $169 the standard price for the refurbs? I was looking into getting one this past weekend and those were the prices.

When I saw the post I thought it meant an additional $20-$30 off those prices, in which case I would be sold!

And why would you get a refurbished iPod when you can get a brand-new Creative Labs or Sansa (my personal favorite) for like the same price? Meh.

And the nice part about the Chase deal is they will print the coupon and show you the closest branches even though the offer is not available in your state! I'm in Colorado in case you can't figure it out.

@mgermano: Yeah, that ipod deal is a little misleading. The savings that dealhack is referring to is just the usual savings from buying refurbished.

@everclear75: I would imagine you could get the crackberry deal and then just switch the sim cards or have T-Mobile port everything over. You're providing the phone, they shouldn't have any problems with it.

I'm not the authority though, I've never used T-Mobile or brought my own phone to switch.

Call your Customer Service--they should be able to walk you through the process.

I looked at the deal myself, and it looks like you have to sign up for a new contract to get the full Blackberry discount. Perhaps it would be easiest to do it through Customer Service or go to a corporate T-Mobile store (not just an authorized dealer) and get it done. Maybe that won't work though. Not sure...

LOL, what? You can still use iTunes without having an iPod, though why you'd want to use iTunes when there are many better options available, I don't know. I have NEVER used iTunes ... and somehow I have access to tons of music (legally!) and it's all DMR-free! Imagine that....

And Sansa and Creative Labs are not cheap imitations.

Apple is not the end-all, be-all of computer electronics, you know. And the iPod wasn't even the first mp3 player on the market, if I recall correctly. They just have a huge marketing budget.

My Sansa 4GB has plays video, and has a micro SD slot so I can fit up to 8GB more (I never need more than 4, though, as I'm constantly switching out music because I have the attention span of a gnat). Does the iPod have a micro SD slot? My Sansa also gets FM radio, and all Creative Labs I've had also got FM radio. Do iPods do that? No, no they don't.

@nakedscience: Didn't mean to spark an Ipod vs. not Ipod debate. I feel the need to mention that my current Mp3 player is a Sansa m240 (1gig) that I got back in 2006. I am looking for an upgrade and although the creative zen that was in a morning deal last week (refurb ~4gig with sd expansion) seemed like a great deal (and has a ~3inch screen) the nano has the better form factor in my opinion.

The iPod series sound a tad worse than the "knockoffs." If only those new Nanos were Rockboxable...

They do hold value though.

Buy a sansa and get some white earbuds. Not only will you save money, but nobody will know you are a poser if you hide the actual player in your pocket.

Until Apple figures out how to allow users the option to replace their own batteries without voiding a warranty, I'm not willing to pay the Apple tax on them.

Really? Because my Sansa player needed nothing installed to make it work, and I can drag-and-drop my music. No iTunes needed. iTunes isn't "semeless" or "better" than anything. iTunes is horrible.

@dangerp: It actually works pretty well on OSX. It is pretty bloated on Windows, though. I suggest they make a Nano version once QuickTimeX comes out.

The iPod, for me, really wins in terms of the interface, which I've grown familiar with and attached to, as well as the fact that their customer support has been good for me, personally. They replaced a dead hard drive twice on an iPod that died because of my own damn fault (I installed an operating system on it once, which probably was more than it was meant to handle. Then I did it with the replacement...). And they're pretty solid, too. My old 4G 20GB iPod is still working, despite with a dismal battery life, but I only use it in the car.

Creative's players look cool, too, though. I just like the iPod as a whole, and how well it works with my Mac. I'm actually thinking about getting my little sister a Creative iPod Shuffle equivalent player with an OLED screen.
