NJ May Ban 'Brazilian' Bikini Waxing Due To Infections

Two women have reported being injured while getting a “Brazilian” bikini wax — leading New Jersey to consider banning the practice.

USAToday says:

Both women were hospitalized for infections following so-called “Brazilian” bikini waxes; one of the women has filed a lawsuit, according to Jeff Lamm, a spokesman for New Jersey’s Division of Consumer Affairs, which oversees the cosmetology board.

Brazilian waxes are not technically legal — (waxing is allowed only on the face, neck, abdomen, legs and arms in NJ) but are not specifically banned.

One spa owner interviewed by the paper said that the majority of bikini waxes she performed were “Brazilian.” Can we soon expect a line of bikini waxing boutiques just across state lines?
