The dell is not a deal at all. I can get a asus eee pc with more ram for $200 at best buy.

@Thomas Romano:

It's a great deal for the people looking for the brand recognition.

@Thomas Romano:

That's just wrong! You're comparing a cheap eeepc that has a tiny SSD with cheap keyboard and cheap "it's about to fall apart" construction vs a half decent mini!

Have you even used a Dell or HP mini's? A world of difference.

user-pic

@Samets: Sorry, Tom. She's right.

user-pic

@Samets: Incorrect, I've been using my eeepc for 6 months now and it shows no signs that it's going to come apart at the seams.

The Sennheiser headphones are a good deal, but they're almost always a good deal on Amazon.com. Two weeks ago, I purchased the same earbuds from Amazon for $28.52 (with shipping). They're an excellent value, but hardly a "daily deal" if you need to wait a bit before buying them.

The Dell deal is okay for a Dell.

For the same price, though, I got an Acer Aspire One with double the ram and an 80GB HDD. (It also came with WinXP, but I know that's not really a selling point for some.) It's a solid little machine and I lurve it.

@Samets: The eeepc has 1 gig ram while the dell inspiron 9 has 512 they both have the same processor , and same ssd size.

I havent used a dell mini but i have a regular dell notebook and just bought an eee pc from bestbuy. in my opinion the eee pc is a great notebook especially when you compair the fact that it has double the ram then the dell inspiron mini thats on sale here.

re the specs of the pc you get .

The eeepc (model 900a not available online) has the same exact specs but with 1 gig of ram and is $50 cheaper.

@Thomas Romano: One guy's "only $200 more" is another gal's "practically twice the cost of the original deal described"

For twice the price of the original deal described, I'm sure I can configure an attractive product from HP, lenovo, or other manufacturers. But the point of the deal was not to suggest good configurations for netbooks at any price point, it was to suggest what was available for $249.

@clickable: Whoops, shoulda cleaned my glasses and reread Thomas Romano's post more carefully before replying. Sorry, Thomas, I'm wiping the egg off my own face, I misread your post and thought you were saying something else. I apologize.
