"you can call me Nanapus!"

user-pic

@Underpants Gnome: When the commercial came on I looked up at it and just began laughing despite not being able to hear it. Just the sight of the banana/octopus marionette is hilarious.

I also love how the eye falls off.

user-pic

Unfortunate that every Denny's in the region was abruptly closed down a few months ago. I miss the place every time I drive by one of the empty shells.

user-pic

Closest Denny's: 55.89 miles.

...

Damnit.

that DVD player isnt all that great of a deal. I bought a model up from that from Amazon last year ~ $50 that has all of the same features plus a USB port - the benefit is that you can drag/drop xvid movies to the thumb drive then read them with the player. No need to spend time burning CDs or DVDs.

A nation's toilets cower in fear.

user-pic

@Doug81: I diddn't see it at the end of the game, but I saw it last night before 24 came on. I giggled.

user-pic

Tried to go to Denny's but it was like an hour wait with people standing outside in the cold :( Wasn't worth it but maybe the lunchtime rush won't be as bad.

user-pic

@Steve518: Fear via free Denny's food vs Fear via free Taco Bell tacos...

If the terrorists want to crush our infrastructure, they would make both happen in one day.

user-pic

@Raekwon: This is something that always perplexes me about free food like this. Happens with the free cone day at Ben and Jerry's or anytime Starbucks gives away coffee. People will wait for an hour or more (in the case of free cone day at our local Ben and Jerry's sometimes 2 hours or more) for something that is about $3, give or take. Even in these "economic times" I've never been able to make the math come out on this one to it's worth the time.

user-pic

@Raekwon:

We were going to head over on lunch since it's only 3 miles away, but I am scared about the lines, not worth it.

user-pic

Every time I've been to a Denny's I've ended up with stomach pains and fun restroom breaks.

user-pic

@Raekwon: They realize economies of scale. They know they can't give everyone a free one, but only the ones who think its worth waiting for 2.5 hours for $7. If you think about it, these are the people who shop at dennys. Those people who realize that an hour of their time is worth way more than a grand slam breakfast, are not their core customers

user-pic

@Raekwon: Wait, you mean Raekwon is NOT a Chef after all? :D

user-pic

@Underpants Gnome:
Dang, that Nanapus commercial is funny. Skewers the IHOP pancake-novelty promotions royally, and is just pleasant to watch. Yes, the eye falling off and the obvious fishline holding up the "arms" are perfect. I can't wait to see what else they come up with. The previous "cowboys at the diner" one was good, too.

user-pic

@mantari: My Denny's that got closed had the sweetest old lady waitress. I miss Paula. :(

user-pic

@Ash78: Protect ya neck! I live across the street from Denny's so it wasn't too bad to go look; though I did have to wake up way earlier than I would have liked. The other Denny's is next to BYU and my friends say that one is a complete madhouse with all the students trying to get in.

user-pic

@Raekwon: I woke up at 8 to go to the Denny's with my friends, and the line was pretty damn long. So I got McDonald's breakfast instead, saved an hour, and spent 4 bucks.

user-pic

@mantari: yeah ours morphed into an IHOP about a year ago.

user-pic

@Raekwon:

Wow, yeah, I think I'll stick with Arby's for lunch.

user-pic

tried to look up location of the nearest denny's via [www.dennys.com] but i keep getting a Service Unavailable error

user-pic

@Gstein: google maps to the rescue! (but the nearest one is still about 10 miles away from where i work, and don't have time)

user-pic

Finally, my statement of "I wouldn't ever eat at Denny's again, even if it was free" has paid off!

user-pic

@Raekwon: The wait in Henrietta wasn't to bad. They were offering "rainchecks" as well, for people who didn't feel like waiting. My girlfriend and I decided to wait, and it was only about 15 minutes. Most people were opting for the rainchecks I guess.

user-pic

@Raekwon: I was curious about how many people would stand in line for this, so I stopped by a Denny's close to my workplace near Albany, N.Y. It was after 9:30 a.m., so the line outside wasn't long, but the parking lot and the exterior of the restaurant were packed.

Where did they offer rainchecks? The fine print for the offer says "while supplies last," but maybe it varies by location. That would be a pretty nice P.R. move on their part if they ended up turning people away.

@Raekwon: @jfielder23:
I've said that before but somehow I get sucked back by that shit hole. On the other hand I've turned down free food their (lunch meetings or whatever) so it works out.

user-pic

When talking about Denny's, "food" should always be in quotation marks.

user-pic

The same people going in for breakfast probably turned around and went back in for lunch.

user-pic

@Raekwon:

Were you there with the rest of the clan?
