Mac-phisto, if you work for them, this is not directed at you. Not a personal attack, just venting anger and frustration.
Yeah well just hope you wont need them right away. My oldest son was just diagnosed with advanced Diabetic Retinopathy and is now considered Legally Blind. Up until Jan 2 he was driving and working. Literally overnight his world turned upside down when he experienced a massive bleed in his left eye and a only slightly lesser one is his right. So the natural progression of economic survival was to apply for SS Disability. Their response? It's not an emergency so be prepared to wait for UP TO 6 MONTHS for a decision. Bastards.
Right now he's in the hospital dealing with other issues related to his disease with a scheduled phone appointment tomorrow morning. I hope the folks that make policy decisions burn in hell.
@oregongal: Oh yeah and because he most likely will be unable to keep that appointment, their decision will be delayed. Tried to convince him that maybe his sight will return. Idiots.

once you've signed up for benefits, you can also enroll to have them direct deposited online thru [www.godirect.gov] . if your bank/credit union is a godirect partner, ask them to help you sign up at your branch! to find out if your financial institution participates, check this list: [www.godirect.org]
