@I work as a meth lab technician isn't really a meth lab tec...: I got it free a year and a half ago with an issue of PC Gamer. Sierra's just giving it away lately.
One more to add to the list: [agrigenius.com]
play the game and receive a free mini maglight!
I got 10 out of 12...
I got a couple of those Reebok HRMs about 6 months ago on woot and they work pretty well. The chest strap is compatible with a lot of common gym machines, too.
Also pretty durable....I wore mine rock climbing. I should have hitched the watch part on the back of my harness but I had it on my wrist. Caught it on something reaching for a handhold and one of the tension pins holding the clasp together popped out.
The watch fell over 200'...it's got some scratches but still works just fine!
@calquist: Any Canadian who doesn't know to check the redflagdeals.com forums for the latest deals should be flicked really hard in the ear.
@Mathray: Why should firearms be excluded from Morning Deals? People who hunt shouldn't be able to save money? It's this knee-jerk reaction to guns that gets people hurt.
@calquist: I keep a list and watch for deals (I don't have tons of time to play, so if I get a game a few months after it came out who cares?)
For new games- Amazon has a video game deal of the day, and occasionally has a full day of Gold Box video game deals. The deals are usually pretty decent (I got Marvel vs Mortal Combat collectors edition for $20 less than the regular version just before xmas).
Otherwise, I buy used- Ebay will have good deals on popular 360 games a few months after release.
@calquist: Toys R Us periodically has "buy 2 get 1 free" deals that are great for building a collection and stocking up on accessories. You can get on their mailing list to know when the next sale is. I also got a factory sealed Mario Galaxy on Ebay for $20 (retails $50) using Microsoft Live cashback.
@TinkishDelight: And I heard about the cashback through Consumerist! (or it may have been Gizmodo :o/)
@Mathray: The gun deals I posted proved very popular. Obviously there's a previously unserved number of our readers looking for deals on firearms.
@Ben Popken: Agreed Ben. Guns aren't illegal...yet. Hopefully they never will be. I'm still waiting for a nice shotgun deal.
@Ben Popken:
Hear hear. Those of us in a position to enjoy such things appreciate the love, Consumerist. Tho, blackpowder rifles like the ones on sale here have got to be the most godawful things to shoot next to at a range. There are reasons beyond performance that made smokeless powder such a runaway success.
@Apathy: Some states do allow blackpowder seasons and not rifle seasons, which I always though was the reason they're still around.
@Ben Popken: That's a relief. I was afraid you were trying to make an odd joke about how we need to stock up on arms to defend ourselves durring the "greater depression" or something.
I'm not a guy who'd buy a gun, but I'm fine with hunting ethically and I think it's okay for people to own a hunting rifle. However, can we have something else be the pic everytime there's a gun deal, or is that innately part of the post getting attention from gun owners?
To be honest, the original gun struck me as something off left field, often the most enjoyable deals. I remember there was once a bargain on ConAgra foods, including fortune cookies, via Amazon. I bought 12 boxes of fortune cookies for just $14. Pretty good deal, although they tasted like crap.
@TVarmy: Argh, I need sleep. I merged two sentences together. I meant to say, I like the items that are out of left field, and would like to see more of them.
@Ben Popken: Sorry, I was away working this morning, so that my house doesn't foreclose and my children can eat. Well I guess I thought it mildly funny at first as I read it as an ironic statement on the current state of the near-Depression we are in. I don't think it reads as funny the next time despite your posit that it is serving "unserved" readers who buy guns. Like TV army said, it probably was a joke in the first place (you never posted a gun deal before, right?!?!), I stand exactly with TVarmy's view on guns as well: having a rifle is fine...for hunting, though I don't. I seriously doubt the "unserved" reader clicked on the deal to actually consider buying a gun. They probably thought it was the joke you intended it as and clicked to see if it was real...
@Mathray: Quite the smarmy remark. I'm going to just be blunt. You don't know why someone would or would not post a deal unless they told you directly. Furthermore, I find it ironic that your posts are far more harassing and offensive than the amount of discomfort you are feigning. If it's a deal it's a deal, regardless of the product.
@Mathray: @Atomic_Veggie: Trying to be sarcastic not smarmy, sorry. Nope, not feigning my discomfort, that's why I commented and followed the thread all day. Sony, I am sincerely glad it helped you (or others) out one way or another on your buying decision. However, I still stand by my comment that the gun deals seem out of place (especially in these times) and their presence is suspect when compared to the hundreds of other Morning Deal items that do not even remotely evoke the controversy of a gun. People who buy guns know where to search for deals on them, give me a break.
That Sprint Deal doesn't work on the $99 everything plan. However, I still get my 13% discount from my employer on my services. The discount's just enough to cover all the taxes are other misc fees.
Speaking of Sprint, I need to call them and complain about how my Data card is under contract. I'm not on the contract rate plan, nor did Sprint give me any sort of deal on the data card. I bought my card off eBay so I'd have it built in my laptop.
@Mathray: You're wrong, and that's pretty much all this comes down to.
"People who buy guns know where to search for deals on them, give me a break. "
and they come here. Why is that so hard for you to accept?
@OggJoshua:
I did not think they would apply the discount to the already heavily discounted SERO plan. Sucks.
I got the 25% off for two of my 3 lines. One of them, I changed from the $99 SE plan to the Everything Data 900 in order to get the discount. This was after doing the math and seeing that I do not use over 900 anytime minutes on that line. All in all, I will save about $35-$40 bc of this.
also, first time commenter here. I loved this site, I have been reading it for a few months now. So useful and informative. Thanks Ben and Co.!
It's a little sad to see a discussion like this. It would probably never come to a satisfactory conclusion.
I personally applaud Ben's decision to post it. It is recognition that Consumerist has an international audience, not just elite Manhattanites (the staff, well, I'm pretty sure you're all Manhattanites, and that's why I like you). People in this audience include those who are quite comfortable with gun bans and want more of them, just as much as it includes people who are quite comfortable with the technology of guns and want more of them.
It seems to me that Ben is choosing to not take an editorial position on the validity of firearms ownership and posting deals for them as he would deals for anything else. I don't see why this should bother anyone. I think buying from Walmart is a greater evil than any gun, but I don't see why I need to rail against it. Some people need clothes for little boys and don't see it the same way I do.
My only point was why here, why on Morning Deals? It was sensationalistic to post a gun deal on here with a picture. That was it. I think there are other sites, forums to put a gun deal on. @XeniaAttis: Frankly your views are from the 80's. The 1780's. Go look up the term bigotry as well, moron.

Tribes 2 is quite fun, and it should run a heck of a lot better now.
