@KarateMedia: But all those things are also (arguably) free, and you don't need to sign up for an account.
@KarateMedia: I am so sick of you people with a Trader Joes in your city! Everyone talks about Trader Joes. Just in case you can't tell, I am jealous of you all.
@WillG:
Bingo. I came there for a *music* download. Not for a needs-proprietary-OS crapware download.
I the same vein, I don't enjoy snooty black-tie-only affairs, either. If I want to bring my linux machine to your party, I will. And if I want to dress in jeans and a t-shirt for lunch, I will. :)
As a Canadian, I find it quicker and easier to go to my local library and borrow the CDs (and then 100% legally make copies due to our CD levy) than to download some weird ass download-manager-DRM-thingy then verify it for viruses and other privacy leaks. And, of course, I can pick up a lot of other stuff while I'm at it, as well.
Thanks for the olive branch, but stop attaching a 1 tonne weight to the other end, would you?
@Rubleaux: Then you'll really hate me. I have several of them by my work and home and never go to any of 'em!
@Rubleaux: Joe's is good, but can be inconsistent w/ stock -- find something you like one week, and you might not see it in stock for another couple weeks. And not "limited edition"/seasonal items - but just normal items that will sometimes be in stock, sometimes not, with no clear idea of when it will be back in. Kind of odd.
That said, $3.99 for a 6-pack of better-than-most-cheap-beer beer w/ a 6.5% alcohol content and it's called "Simpler Times"? Can't beat that.
Welp, I signed up on the site, added the "book" to my cart, and went to download the software. When I hit the download link, Firefox crashed. Once I got the installer to load, I went back to the site and it said "It looks like you've already downloaded this" or whatever. Sweet!
In fairness, my FF tends to crash sometimes when I try to download files, so I don't blame Audible for that. I'm just saying it should have let me get the file(s), since I hadn't technically downloaded them yet.

I'm guessing that none of those habits include sitting on the couch, drinking Trader Joe's Simpler Times lager in a can, waiting for 30 Rock to come on and wishing everything was different.
