The Chicago Tribune is reporting that yesterday's post-Christmas sales were lackluster for retailers. We don't know about the rest of you, but we were way too full of eggnog and cookies to actually get up and go shopping.

This is a test contextual ad for the SHOPPING category. It should appear on all SHOPPING entries, unless the subcategory has its own ad.

i guess the retailers set their expectations too high. my gf and I went to olive garden (we were given a gift card for xmas) and its in a busy shopping district here, and the traffic was just as bad as if it was right before xmas.

I think part of the problem is the lack of discounts. I admittedly got some great prices yesterday when I was helping my brother buy a computer. But I bought only from the rare items that were on sale. Most of the stuff out there was not on sale, or you saved such a paltry amount it was not something to write home about.

I agree with the above. I think Black Friday really isn't much better. 98% of "sales" at stores aren't really sales, or aren't good/worthwhile ones.

I work(ed... holiday help *sigh*) at Gamestop the day after Christmas this year and it was STUPID how many people were there. Using giftcards, returning stuff, just buying/trading in things (why today!?). We also had a buy 2/get 1 deal on used games so that made things worse. There are 3 Gamestops in this town within a half mile of each other... 2 are in the same mall and the other is down the street. Our store had lines literally out the door all day.

Ridiculous.

I was in a shopping center the day after Christmas. It definitely wasn't as busy as it would be on a regular day.

I think most people just don't have the money to do even more shopping.
